Mangalore, January 6: 'Gomandala- Gopooja', a three day special programme to worship cow as god, organised by the Govanithashraya Trust, Mangalore, at Nehru Maidan in the city was inaugurated on Friday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, after the independence we have seen the way our country depends on the cow.

He said even before Independence India had to struggle to protect the sacred animal. A program of this kind is very auspicious and it must be made known to the Central government that an initiative of this kind has been taken at national level, he suggested.

Recalling the Hindu traditions, he said in the earlier days when a boy went to look for a prospective bride he would see the number of cows her house had bred.

He also demanded that the controversial anti-cow – slaughter law must be come into force, since cows give us milk without any law.

Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi mutt, most of the times cows are being ill-treated when they are being transported by vans from one place to another.

Citing examples from the Gita he preached the public about the status of the cow in our Hindu religion. He went on to compare the cow to mother and appealed all to worship it regularly.

Delivering the presidential address, B Nagaraj Shetty, Chairman, Coastal Development Authority, called upon the Hindus to do everything possible to protect the sacred animal.

Informing about the objectives of the event, Ananth Krishna, President of the Trust, said, the relationship of Hindus with cows is very strong and ancient.

He said that it was our duty to make people aware of the need for protecting cows, which are being slaughtered everywhere.

He said that the school children must be educated about the way the cows are bred and the way it is taken care off.

The evening got off to a Vedic start by chanting of mantras. Cow worshippers began to bringing their pet animal-cum-god to the venue, where religious discourses about cows and chanting of shlokas will go one for next three days. Go-pooja, Bhajans, Vishnusahasranama, Little Krishna show and cultural programmes by blind children also will be part of the event.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 28: A man from Kerala was among the terrorists affiliated to Islamic State (IS) who allegedly attacked a Gurdwara in Kabul earlier this week in which 27 people were killed.

The IS has claimed that one of the suicide bombers was Abu Khalid al-Hindi.

According to sources, investigation agencies on Friday have identified him as 29-year-old Mohammed Sajid Kuthirummal of Padne in Kasargod. He was among the 14 persons, who left from Kerala to join IS in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

"IS had released the name Abu Khalid al-Hindi through its media agency soon after the attack. The photograph of him holding a rifle was also published by IS in their propaganda magazine Al Naba. From that, we have identified the person as Mohammed Sajid Kuthirummal. We are investigating the matter and in touch with the investigating agencies in Afghanistan for tracking his trail," sources told ANI.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe had earlier revealed that Mohammed Sajid was recruited by Abdul Rashid Abdulla of Chandera, who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

Sajid worked as a shop keeper in a gulf country and returned to Kerala. Based on a complaint by Sajid's father Mahamood, the FIR was registered at Chendara Police Station, Kasaragod in 2016 regarding Sajid joining IS and leaving for Afghanistan.

He was among the 14 member team that left from Kerala to join IS in Khorasan Province' in Nangarhar.

ANI had earlier reported that two of these members Ayesha alias Sonia Sebastian and Fathima alias Nimisha who were in IS had expressed their interest in returning to Kerala. Out of 14, seven including Sajid is dead.

First, investigate truly who is behind this? Then hang all of them.

Malappuram (Kerala), Feb 19:  children of a couple in a span of nine years has raised suspicion among police personnel here who have registered a case following a complaint after a three-month-old child of the family died on Tuesday and was buried.

Police exhumed the body, which was buried in the morning, and took it to the district hospital at Tirur for post-mortem.

The infant was the sixth child of the couple, police said.

"A case has been registered (for unnatural death) in the matter to verify the death beyond any suspicion raised by locals since five other children of the couple had died in the past nine years," a senior police official said.

The couple had three boys and three girls of which the third girl child lived till the age of four and the rest died before turning one.

"The post-mortem will take place today itself. We are collecting the medical records of the children who had passed away earlier.

We will identify the cause of death after analysing the records and discuss the matter with forensic doctors," Tirur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) said.

However, relatives claimed that there was nothing suspicious in the death of the children and that doctors have said it was due to some genetic disease.

"The post-mortem of the third child was conducted and the doctors said the death was due to some genetic problems. They said they were helpless," a relative said, adding that the family was ready to face any probe.

According to the locals, the couple had claimed that the children have died due to epilepsy.

Sources said the baby was taken to a hospital but was dead prior to reaching the hospital early this morning.
