Porn-gate: Nanga march on Udupi streets

Udupi, February 8: Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti took out a protest march on the streets of Udupi here on Wednesday demanding action against the tainted BJP MLAs, who caught watching porn videos in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

The protesters marched from Sanskrit College Circle to clock tower in which obscene pictures and persons wearing tainted MLAs Laxman Savadi and CC Patil's masks were paraded in the backdrop of a huge banner showcasing Vidhana Soudha.

Samiti President Nithyananda Olakadu condemned the incident and expressed anguish against the BJP government for supporting indecent acts.

He also demanded the suspension of the Savadi, Patil and Krishna J Palemar, from the post of the MLA. They shall also be booked for their criminal offence, he added.

Kalaburagi, Feb 27: Kalaburagi police has issued notice to AIMIM leader Waris Pathan to appear before the investigation officer to give his statement in connection to the controversial statement that he recently made during an anti-CAA rally.

"We have already served notice to appear and the date is 29th. He is supposed to give his statement. Some people have already recorded their statements," said Kalaburagi Police Commissioner MM Nagaraj.

Recently while addressing an anti-CAA rally in Kalaburagi, the AIMIM leader had said: "Time has now come for us to unite and achieve freedom. Remember we are 15 crores but can dominate over 100 crores."

Udupi, Jul 21: Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swami, the chief pontiff of Puthige Mutt, has tested positive for coronavirus. 

The pontiff got admitted into KMC Hospital Manipal last night and his treatment is in progress at the said hospital.

He was supposed to initiate his annual Chaturmasa Vruta at Padigaru Mutt on Tuesday.

According to sources, he was suffering from fever and hence he opted to get tested for covid-19. His health condition is said to be stable.

Mangaluru, May 21: A man who was quarantined in Moodbidri town of Dakshina Kannada after returning from Mumbai has reportedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

The victim has been identified as Dayanand Poojary from Kadandale.

The exact reason for the suicide is not yet known. However, it is suspected that he might have resorted to the extreme step out of fear about COVID-19 and about the means of his future livelihood.

He was admitted to the quarantine facility at Kadandale school around 1 am on Thursday, May 21. Within a couple of hours he ended his life, sources said.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
