Mangaluru, Feb 9: A home guards personnel trespassed into a college campus and posing as a police constable attacked a Muslim student near BC Road, on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

crime

Mohammed Anish (19), a second year BBM student of Carmel College, Modankap in Bantwal taluk, has been hospitalized after the attack. He is the son of PM Ibrahim from Panemangaluru.

The accused has been identified as Kishor, a home guards personnel, who belongs to the jurisdiction of Pandeshwar Police Station in Mangaluru.

The incident took place at around 12:30 p.m. when the Anish after finishing his classes was going for lunch along with his classmates Abdul Vajid Sheikh and B.Com student Irfan.

The accused who rode his motorbike into the college campus without any permission began to abuse Anish and thrashed him in front of his friends. When Anish collapsed the accused kicked him.

The accused then claimed himself to be a police constable and asked Anish to meet him in Principal’s office. He also snatched the key of Anish’s motorbike.

A severely injured Anish was then taken to Bantwal government hospital for treatment. When the news started spreading, a large number of students gathered on the campus.

Meanwhile, a team of police led by Bantwal SI Nandakumar rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody. The police also registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the student.

‘Principal’s irresponsibility’

The students and parents have blamed the college principal for failing to handle the situation when a miscreant barged into the campus and attacked a student.

“The principal welcomed the accused to the office when he identified himself as a police constable,” said one of the students. It is learnt that in the past too Kishor had targeted a few Muslim students and snatched their motorbike keys accusing them of rash driving.

Mohammad, Mangalore

The facts which I wrote is 100% true and nothing conceited. People of Kudroli know Masood and his family and their contribution to the Muslim Community. If you compare his economical condition from 50 years back to now, you will realize from where he got the money. He was henchman of Mr. Poojari, who brought him to political life, and bank loans approved to him for his various projects and hotels in undivided DK district while Poojari was central Minister. Poojari made him as MLC and he was not elected MLC. Masood was not born with Golden spoon, by hook or crook become rich man that everyone knows. He is a \PRACHARA PRIYA\".

I have no enmity with Masood, whatever I wrote it is fact and people from Muslim Community of Kudroli and Jodu Palli knows. With regard to Halal and Haram, he is answerable to Allah."

hey hang on Mr. George. Are you appreciating a classless goon who can illegally trespassed to an institute to show his brutality. If you are an uneducated illiterate coward man I have no issues, but I don't think so, you must be well educated civilized white collared man. My advise is to you, always try to stand with the truth, bcoz the truth will prevail. if the victim has done something wrong, what is your role if you are a neighbor? just to advise them in a peaceful manner, he repeats just give a complaint at the nearest police station, that's all. Who is this Kishore, is he appointed by the government or the local body to punish for those who creates nuisance in that place. Hey guyz stand up as a team irrespective of any religion and raise your voice, if required raise your muscles against such nasty criminals and smack them down. don't let anyone to destroy your community in the name of religion or politics. Bring peace & prosper with your neighbors, live lively and peacefully.

Mohammad Mangalore,

I don't think you were not born during the Mangalore Riots. I dont want to elaborate the incident that may be healthy in this forum. Masood is one of the opportunist Politician ever lived in the Mangalore. His popularity is nil, he has no people support in Bunder Area. No.2 businessmen of his relatives residing in Dubai and forest Wood thieves donated large amount to the college and a Madrasa near Jodupalli just to avoid income tax. You are wrong to say two Masjid were built by Tippu sultan, except Zeenat Baksh masjid. You are in dark days in this 21st century. I think you are henchman of Masood, who has low respect in Mangalore.

However, let the readers know what Central Committee did to this incident, clarify.

I could see statements made by some non muslim brothers is really intensive which produces wrath among different communities. I have my condolences to the victim and his family. However, I strongly disagree with the action of the accused who could barge into college premises and assault the student. I am sure the reason for this attack is not the bike nor the roaring silencer , the real motive is something else. When the street dog becomes mad, there is no point of taking it for medical treatment, but it must be treated the way it should be treated. Hope the message is clear.

Ibrahim Hussain SS Udupi, Go check your history as per our knowledge Mr. Masood was married in the year 1966 and not 1965. THe riot was started by Putthan (beary) and this can be vouched by the urdu speaking persons of that locality. I will have to forgive your knowledge on when the two masjids were built in Jodupalli (it was in the time of Tippu Sultan). The two masjids were made one thanks to Mr Masood when he was the Chairman of the minority commission and the president of the mosque. For the college of Kashipattana there huge money was donated by Mr. Masood, his brother, brother in-laws and I can vouch that you are not one of them. Go to Bunder and check how many weddings of poor girls are being donated by them. Go and check the accounts of the Central committee and you will know how much money has been given to riot victims and innocent muslims be it for theirvpersonal heath or marriage. I know that he has personally given money from his own pocket many a times as I reside near his house. Come to Mangalore and check what the central committee has done and not stay in Udupi and comment. May Allah give you good sense.

Mohammed Mangalore,

I know Masood's old story. 1965/66 first Mangalore Hindu- Muslim riot was perpetrated by Masood family and entire community sufferred, and he is man behind the whole incident. Central committee is only doing the job of representing the memorandum to the DC or Police commissioner that's the end of it. No follow up or solution. Kudroli Two masjids one place? As per quran and hadees all muslims brothers and equal, then why this two Masjid's in one vicinity?

Regarding Kashipatna Girls college is not a charity college, its a commercialized educational institution. Did Masood pay full amount for this school building? Or what is his contribution, you have to elaborate.

Constructive criticism are always brings some sort of solution to problems, Mr. Mohammad.

Give me one example of one instance of Ullal Riots or Kavoor/Bajpe riots, what is the contribution to the victims of the riots by Central Committee?

Mohammed SS, It clearly shows how the muslim community is divided (Hanafi and Shafi). You point one finger at someone and the other 4 will point at you. If we have to postmortem the so called MUSLIM LEADERS whom you support (we very well know which language they speak) then all their wrong doings will spill out. Do not wash your dirty linen in public.

Ibrahim Hussain Udupi, I can scense your jealousy in naming some politicians name when you do not know what good Mr. Masood has done to his community. Come to Jodupalli,Kudroli, Bunder etc and see. The Central committee is doing a good job and people like you are always there to point fingers at someone or the other. If you think you can do a difference stand for elections or let us know what good you do to out community. It is easy to write negative comment but to write a good one you need to be good at heart. By the way ask the Kazi of Mangalore what Mr. Masood has done and is doing for the community. go visit Kashipattana where a girls college is coming up go to Kudroli and visit the old age home for women. Come out of your dreams bro. Grow up and learn to appreciate.

The main mistake here is from parents. They should not provide either Motor Bike or Mobile to student. Let them start earning in their own, then let them buy Motor Bike, Car or Mobile or whatever they need.

Here one mistake made by home guard by handling law and order by himself by hitting him. It should not happen in future. There should be severe enquiry needed for both the party to find out the culprit behind this.

May Allah (swt) protect our all muslim Ummthis from bad and prohibited things.

Do home guards can handle law and order situation and arrest any one? They are third rate guards as Mr. Kishor. This matter have to be investigated and stripped out from the Home guard role.

Why only Muslim Students are vulnerable to arrest these days. Recently a Muslim student was tortured by the Police allegedly, having contact with the missing Girls were found in Kerala state.

Why muslim Central Committee led by former politician Masood is silent?

Dubai, May 12: Free tickets are being offered by philanthropists and businessmen based in the UAE for deserving Indians who want to fly home.

Repatriation ticket prices have been set at around Dh700 to Dh750 per person depending on the destination. But there are many in UAE who cannot afford it, especially people who have lost their jobs or have medical concerns.

Indian businessman Dhananjay Datar, chairman & managing director of Al Adil Trading Company, is also giving away 300 tickets. He is liasing with the Consulate General of India (CGI) for the names. “This is the time we need to rise as a community,” he said.

Besides taking care of airfares, Datar will also bear the cost of COVID-19 testing fees for Indians from the UAE.

“The repatriation efforts undertaken by the government of India is one of the largest initiatives. I am just doing a small bit to help the community. There are many people who are not in a position to meet the airfare and COVID testing costs as they have lost jobs. I will be coordinating with authorised entities handing this to lend my support,” he said.

Need for more flights

The gesture notwithstanding, many Indians are still waiting to get news on their repatration.

Social worker Shukoorali Kallangal, President, Abu Dhabi Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), urged the government of India to add more flights to accommodate more passengers.

“Emergency repatriation services are the need of the hour. There are several expats with medical, financial distress. For those who came with the hope of a job – that too is a thing of the past now. Right now all they want is to go home and start something afresh there.”

Kallangal said: “Take the case of pregnant women. In many cases, their husbands have lost jobs or have been asked to go on unpaid leave. They are living hand to mouth and cannot afford medical costs. Due consideration should be given to them.”

Sreedharan Prasad, another social worker based in Ras Al Khaimah, said he is currently dealing with several emergency medical cases.

Consul General of India Vipul said plans are afoot to add more flights in the next phase of Indian repatriation. “The number of flights are being decided by India in consultation with state governments. This is not a normal situation we all are in. We are in the middle of a pandemic situation.”

Bengaluru, May 23: SSLC and PUC students residing in containment zones will not be able to write the exams scheduled to be held in June and July, respectively, but will be given opportunity to write the supplementary examination and treated as fresh candidates.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar announced this at a press conference on Friday.

In turn, officials in the Department of Primary and Secondary Education will start collecting the list of students in containment zones. However, they are worried since the list of containment zones is dynamic and a particular locality can be declared a containment zone even the night before the examination.

“If any examination centre is located in the containment zone, then we can change the centre and move it to a non-containment zone. However, if a student resides in a zone that is declared containment zone just before the exam, there is no option but for the person to skip the exam,” an official said.

Officials of the department are worried about another scenario as well. “There is a chance that midway through the examination, an area is becomes a containment zone. Then some students may write a few papers and give the rest a miss. Implementation at the district- and block-levels will be a challenge,” said an official.

Sources said that the department is working out several situations that may arise and trying to work on providing practical solutions to the students.

Around 5.98 lakh students have registered for the second pre-university English examination that is scheduled to be held on June 18. As many as 8.48 lakh students have registered for the SSLC examination scheduled to be held between June 25 and 4 July. Currently, there are 261 containment zones in Karnataka that have 5.49 lakh people residing in these zones.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board has decided to ensure that only 18 students are seated in a classroom to write the SSLC examination. This is to ensure that social distancing is maintained in the exam hall.

Dubai, Jul 5: Three Indians, who were repatriated on a chartered flight from the UAE on Friday, have been held in the state of Rajasthan after officials seized gold worth Dh2.2million from them, the government announced on Saturday.

They are likely to be placed under arrest along with 11 others, who were repatriated from Saudi Arabia, from whom gold worth Dh5.5million was seized, a statement from the government tweeted by Press Information Bureau in Rajasthan said.

The gold bars were hidden in emergency lamps, photos attached to the tweets showed.

The 14 passengers had arrived at the Jaipur International Airport by two chartered flights.

They were intercepted by the Customs team at the airport and 31.9kg of gold valued at Rs156,759,820 (Dh7.7million) concealed in the baggage was recovered from these passengers.

Three passengers arrived from Ras Al Khaimah by Spice Jet Flight SG9055 and 12 gold bars/bricks weighing 9.3kg valued at Rs.45,761,100 (Dh2.2million) were recovered from them, the statement said.

The Indian Consulate in Dubai confirmed to Gulf News that the flight was chartered by a private company for repatriating its employees.

It is suspected that the passengers were used as carriers to smuggle gold.

The other 11 accused had arrived from Riyadh and 22.65kg of gold bars, predominantly with Suisse markings, valued at Rs110,998,720 (Dh5.5million) were recovered from them.

“The said recovered gold bars have been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The said passengers are being interrogated and are likely to be placed under arrest in terms of section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962,” the statement added.

Indian media had earlier reported similar cases in which stranded Indians were apparently lured to be carriers for smuggling gold on repatriation flights from various countries.

A spike in gold smuggling attempts using Indians getting repatriated after losing jobs was also reported from the Indian state of Kerala.
