Speeding tourist vehicle kills woman in front of her daughter near Ullal

Mangaluru, Feb 17: A septuagenarian woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding tourist vehicle in front of the eyes of her daughter under the limits of Ullal police station on Wednesday evening.

70-year-old Nagamma was crossing National Highway-66 along with her daughter at Kolya when the killer vehicle coming from the direction of Kerala knocked the former down.

The tragedy took place when Nagamma, wife of Late Mohan Poojary from Kolya, was returning home after attending a baby shower programme of one of her relatives at Ombattukere.

Nagamma’s daughter, who was holding mother’s hand miraculously escaped unhurt.

Despite her old age Nagamma was active and was working at Summer Sands. On Wednesday she had taken off to attend the baby shower programme.

The intensity of the accident was such that the body of the elderly woman is completely disfigured. Ullal police has registered a case and investigations are on.

Poor driver... what else he must do in National Highways? should drive @ 20kmph? If he was over speeding at pedestrian cross then he must be punished. If the women was crossing highways without pedestrian cross then this is her fault & driver must go free.

Bengaluru, Jun 22: The opening of Schools in the state, is unlikely before Dasara festival, as a majority of the parents are averse to send their children due to the COVID-19 scare.

According to official sources, in the State education department, a majority of parents, who were asked to give their opinion on re-opening of schools in the state, have reportedly favoured continuing the closing of schools till September.

The primary and Secondary education department had received feedback from various stakeholders including educational institutions, parents and Teachers, clocking high towards not opening the schools for the 2020-21 academic year till Dasara days.

Mangaluru, Apr 17: Authorities in Dakshina Kannada have announced a fresh coronavirus positive case. The patient is a resident of Uppinangady in Puttur taluk.

With this the total number of covid-19 positive cases in this coastal district mounted to 13 even though most of the patients have recovered and returned home after treatment.

In past twelve days this is the first coronavirus case reported in the district.

It is learnt that the 39-year-old had been to Delhi. He was home quarantined for past few days. His throat swabs were tested positive for the deadly disease today.

Newsroom, June 14: Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his house in Mumbai’s Bandra today, was heartbroken after the death of his former manager Disha Salian.

34-year-old actor had posted a heartfelt note after her death: “It’s such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha’s family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.” 

The police are considering 28-year-old Disha’s death as an accidental one and the investigation is on to find if it was a suicide. She died after falling off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai on June 8.

It is not yet known if there is any connection between the two deaths. Sushant’s house help reportedly found him hanging inside his room on Sunday and cops are investigating the case. He was recently seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore and more recently on Netflix opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in Drive.

Who is Disha Salian?

Disha Salian hails from Karnataka’s coastal district of Udupi. She was born in 1992 into a business family background. She reportedly migrated to Mumbai with her family at an early age. 

After completing her education, she worked in the Times of India Group for more than three years. The she went on the become the celebrity manager at Media Vantage.

Apart from Sushant, she had great links with many popular celebrities like Bharti Singh, Alisha Panwar, and others.
