The event marked AAP's historic decision to expand its network globally including in the Gulf countries, where nearly seven million Indian expats are currently working.

Speaking on the occasion, a legislator of Delhi's ruling party and the party's co-convener of its Overseas Chapter, Adarsh Shastri, said the party provides an alternative system of good governance.

“India's deep rooted corruption and dynastic political system will be transformed to non-corrupt, development- and issue-based governance by AAP,” he said and hailed Arvind Kejriwal's leadership.

The event, attended by a large number of expatriates, also provided an opportunity to take stock of the situation of India, which has been marred by several controversies and movements in recent times.

Shastri said the mood of the country toward the political system has changed after path-breaking initiatives taken by the AAP government after it came to power in Delhi in early 2014.
Social infrastructure like education, health, social welfare have been given top priority while free water, electricity, abolition of VIP status, completion of public projects were ensured to be completed within stipulated time.

Besides, citizens participation in administration through mohalla sabha, passing the janalokpaal bill, taking strict action against corrupt officials have restored people's confidence in government and party, he said.

Kerala State Convener C. R. Neelakandan also spoke on the occasion, which was presided over by Basheer Aramboor. Mansoor welcomed the audience while Abdul Azees proposed the vote of thanks. Shameem conducted the program.

During the interactive session that followed, a number of questions about AAP including poor attention given to senior citizens in government hospitals, poor health infrastructure, corruption, unauthorized constructions, adulteration in food items, turning Yamuna shores into spots for tourist attraction, participation of public in decision-making process and other issues were discussed. AAP has developed a strong support base in India as well as among the Indian expatriates community across the globe. Party supporters and well-wishers from the different parts of the country participated in the event.

Supply of free water, electrify, wifi, if it is true it will boost their image in other states also. Same way reduce house tax also. This is because it is being increase consistently. Sami irritations like paid Parking in cities if removed will make the citizens have a breath of relief. Politicians hardly understand this. Since Arvind may grasp the seriousness of the points raised, who will inform him or bring this to his attention. These are issues people are suffering worth attending to if u really care for the aam aadmi instead of tall claims. Difference will declare itself in th next general election .

Bengaluru, Mar 6: The Karnataka Congress on Thursday termed the budget for fiscal 2020-21 presented by the B.S. Yediyurappa government as the "weakest ever state budget".

"This is the weakest budget ever that our state has had. There is no clear cut provision in the budget for industrial growth or to generate jobs. No clarity on department wise allocation," tweeted Congress.

Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said he did not expect such a bad budget which has discriminated on agriculture and education sectors.

"The state budget does not mention major irrigation projects like Kaveri valley and Krishna. No farmers loan waiver," noted Rao.

The opposition party has criticised the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the potential of Karnataka was not realized to generate revenue through this budget.

Assailing the additional tax on petrol and diesel, Congress said the development will lead to price rise and is a huge disappointment.

"People are reeling under high inflation and reduction in income. BJP has rubbed salt into injury by further increasing prices and providing no relief to common man," said the party.

Bhalki MLA and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Eshwar Bhimanna Khandre pointed out that the Centre gave the state only Rs 1,869 crore, despite a loss of Rs 35,160 crore in 2019.

Calling stamp duty reduction for housing within Rs 20 lakhs as an insult to people, Congress questioned the Chief Minister and BJP to first show where in Bengaluru does one get housing within Rs 20 lakh.

"This is mockery of people. No mention or allotment to universal housing programme that Congress government had delivered," claimed Congress.

Focusing on Karnataka capital Bengaluru, Congress slammed the BJP saying no proper revenue policy has been mooted.

"Last mile connectivity issue not addressed. Drinking water issue is not mentioned. No mention of peripheral ring road. No mention of Akrama-Sakrama and no thought process has gone in while planning Bengaluru," tweeted the party.

The party said Yediyurappa has admitted that there is a financial crisis in his budget speech.

"He admits Rs 8,883 crore aid has been cut, around Rs 11,000 crore state share from Centre has been cut. No additional allocation for flood relief. What is stopping him and 25 members of Parliament to question the centre," observed Congress.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah mocked Yediyurappa that though he calls himself a farmer''s son, he delivered an anti-farmer budget.

"No one will benefit from this budget. A complete failure to boost the economy, to realize inclusive development and to improve standard of living," he tweeted.

Bengaluru, May 11: Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Monday asked Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to urge PM Narendra Modi to give a 'COVID Package' to Karnataka.

In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy said that Yediyurappa should raise the demand during the course of the meeting scheduled to be held today with the PM, which will also be attended by Chief Ministers of other states.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with CMs from different states on coronavirus control and lockdown today. The state's CM BS Yediyurappa will also be in it. At this meeting, BSY should urge Modi to offer a 'COVID Package' to the state," Kumaraswamy's tweet, roughly translated in English from Kannada, read.

In subsequent tweets, the JDS leader said that, "The central government has set up a PM Cares Fund for the fight against Corona. As MPs, entrepreneurs and citizens have made generous donations. BSY must convince Modi that the state has not received adequate financial support from the Center so far."

He further said that the package could be utilised for "medical procedures", "financial compensation for the affected people."

Kumaraswamy also said that "In addition to the 'COVID Package', other dues from the Center, including GST dues, flood relief, etc should also be asked for by BS Yediyurappa at the meeting with Modi."

PM Narendra Modi will hold a meeting, through video conference, with state Chief Ministers on Monday at 3 pm to discuss the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country.

The Prime Minister had earlier interacted with Chief Ministers four times over the COVID-19 situation via video conferencing.

The upcoming interaction comes days ahead of the scheduled ending of the nationwide lockdown.

The ongoing lockdown, which was imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus, is scheduled to end on May 17.
