Mangalore, Jul 1: A 35-year-old, who was pregnant with a pair of surgical scissors for more than four years, finally breathed a sigh of relief on Monday.

Umm-ul-Miqass, a resident of Madoor near Kotekar in Mangalore taulk, once again underwent a crucial surgery on Monday in Unity Health Complex for the removal of surgical instruments from her stomach.

It is learnt that reputed surgeon Dr Abdul Majeed successfully removed the surgical scissors from pelvic area. Based on the request of police the entire surgery was reportedly video graphed on Monday. The surgical scissors also have been handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, Mangalore East Police, who have registered a case of negligence against the two doctors who operated on the woman four years ago. Police sources said that experts ' opinion would be sought before taking further action against accused doctors.

In February, 2010, Dr Poornima Nair and Dr Rohit Gatti had operated on 30-year-old Umm-ul-Miqass at Mangalore Nursing Home. The woman was discharged from the hospital a few days after the hysterectomy surgery.

However within a few days, the health condition of Umm-ul-Miqass began to deteriorate. She experienced constant abdominal pain. Severe pain and swelling in her joints turned her life into hell. She suffered from multiple diseases including back-to-back fevers for more than four long years.

Very recently, a skin specialist in Unity Health Centre, Mangalore, after examining her, asked her to undergo scanning. The result shocked the staff and doctors, as there was a pair of scissors lying in the abdomen.

Bengaluru, Jan 16: Senior Congress leader K J George on Thursday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate officials here in connection with a FEMA case.

The former minister is being investigated by the ED for probable violation of provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act.

The ED had recently issued summons to George.

Speaking to reporters after appearing before the ED, George said he has answered to the officials' queries and will cooperate further also.

"ED had issued me summons, as a law abiding citizen, I have answered and gave documents to whatever they asked.

Further also if they call me...I will cooperate and provide necessary documents," he said, without divulging any details.

George clarified that no summons has been issued by the ED to members of his family.

"If required they (ED officials) will call me again, and I'm ready to cooperate," the congress leader added.

Last year, the president of the Karnataka Rashtra Samithi Ravi Krishna Reddy had complained to the ED seeking a probe into the alleged money laundering and properties held by George and his family members in the United States.

Responding to a question about a defamation case filed by him against those who have levelled the allegations, George said "Just because ED has called me for questioning, I'm not proved guilty."

"Anyone can complain to agencies like the Income Tax or ED or Lokayukta, but my only objection is with going to the press to project someone as guilty," he said.

"...going to the press with an intention to do a propaganda against me..someone who is in public life-- to project me as guilty is wrong, so I have filed defamation case stating the allegations are false," he added.

George is the third senior Congress leader from Karnataka to face an ED probe after D K Shivakumar and B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Shivakumar was arrested by the agency in a money laundering case and was kept in Tihar Jail, until he got bail in October, while Khan was summoned in connection with the multi-crore IMA group Ponzi scam case.

Kalaburagi, Mar 5: Kalaburagi Police has issued a second notice to AIMIM leader Waris Pathan, for his controversial remark, directing him to appear before the Investigation Officer on March 8 and give his statement.

Earlier, Kalaburagi Police Commissioner MM Nagaraj said that the police had served notice to Pathan and asked him to appear on February 29 before Investigation Officer.

On February 20, while addressing an anti-CAA rally at Kalaburagi, Pathan had said, "time has now come for us to unite and achieve freedom. Remember we are 15 crore but can dominate over 100 crores."

However, Pathan later took back his words and had said he had not targeted any community but had spoken against members of some organisations.

"If any of my words have hurt someone, I take them back as I am a true Indian," he had said.
