IFF Organizes 4

Jeddah, Sep 22: Hajj Volunteer Service is a three month process for India Fraternity Forum (IFF) every Hajj season. IFF service starts with the distribution of 'Hajj Handbook', which is handed out in six major Indian languages to the pilgrims before they leave for Hajj from the home country.

In Saudi Arabia the volunteers start their assistance with the arrival of the first flight in Jeddah, Madeena and Makkah as well.

In Makkah pilgrims are helped to reach their accommodation. The Inspirational experience of serving people during Hajj has increased the number of volunteers participating in the service.

IFF had to limit the number of volunteers due to constraints in accommodating them; this year more than 1000 volunteers served the purpose.

Volunteers were Indian expatriate from eleven states speaking major Indian languages. They include volunteers from Yanbu and Jeddah.

The airport authority of Jeddah has issued entry permit to Hajj Terminal for IFF volunteers to receive the pilgrims at their arrival and to facilitate the same service upon their departure as well.

For the third consecutive years IFF women volunteers also will take part to assist women pilgrims. They will provide service to the female pilgrims in the tents, especially old pilgrims of above 70 years.

Mina service continues from Dhulhajj 7 to 13 late evening till the last Indian pilgrim leaves the Mina tents.

IFF is getting tremendous support from Consulate General of India and its affiliates like Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF). IPWF has been coordinating the volunteer service and this year IFF designed the map for the Mina operations as per the instructions of CG.

Consulate has printed and distributed copies of this map to guide the stranded pilgrims. IFF provides adequate training to all of its volunteers in different languages.

Unlike past, this year IFF volunteers were provided with accommodation by the Consulate. IPWF has been distributing bottled water for the pilgrims while returning from Haram and they worked hard to guide the pilgrims and to give awareness on performing Hajj.

Volunteers guide the Indian pilgrims to their accommodation in Aziziah and help them by providing financial support and arrange re-imbursement of the amount, if there a loss of money.

The Saudi Government is improving the facilities for Hajj in order to assist the pilgrims and make their pilgrimage comfortable one.

The growing number of old aged pilgrims has made the volunteer service an imperative and more organized one.

IFF has formed special teams for Tent service, Field Service, Medical assistance, Logistics, Crisis Management and Public Relations for their Hajj service operations in Mina.

Entire Hajj service operation of the Forum is supervised by JanabMudassar, Karnataka (Chief Coordinator), Janab Abdul Ravoof (Vice Coordinator), Mohammed Ali Kerala (General Captain), C.V Ashraf (Logistics), Amir Sultan tamilnadu (Media), JanabNazeerfarookhisiddiq Andhra Pradesh, JanaabIrshad Ahmed Uttar Pradesh, Janab Sheikh Joyeel West Bengal, Janaab Mohammed ShajidBihar,Janaab Mohammed Anisuddin Maharashtra, Makka In charge Janaab Abdul Gaffer Kerala and Madinaa In charge Janaab Mohammed Musthafa Kerala appointed as member of executive committee.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible.

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond.

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20.

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
