Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mysuru, Jan 20: As the Karnataka state Congress is still awaiting the appointment of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President, MLA Satish Jarkiholi has said that in order to balance the caste and regional equations, All India Congress Committee (AICC) was planning to create four working presidents posts for KPCC.

Talking to media personnel here on Sunday, Mr Jarkiholi, who is considered to be in the race for the post, said that a clear picture about the constitution of additional posts of the working president in the KPCC would emerge in a week.

He added that it has been delayed due to the Assembly elections in Delhi.

Udupi, Jul 26: Two persons including a lady doctor have been arrested by the Kaup police in Udupi district for trying to use fake salary documents to avail loan from a bank to buy a car. 

According to police, on July 24, the doctor had visited Bank of Baroda's branch office at Kaup Moodabettu. She had approached the branch manager for a car loan for herself and her brother. She claimed that her monthly salary is Rs 2.66 lakh.

The bank verified the details furnished along with the loan application. The bank found that even though the doctor had furnished salary slips of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, she was presently not employed there.

The bank manager has filed a complaint at Kaup police station, accusing the doctor of trying to cheat the bank by availing loan on the basis of fake documents.

The police registered a case and nabbed her when she visited the Katapady branch of the same bank today. The police also arrested a man, who according to the doctor, created fake documents for her.

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The third annual nocturnal Mangaluru Kambala, also known as the Rama Lakshmana Kambala, will be held on the night of January 25 at Goldfinch City in Bangra Kuluru, Mangaluru Kambala Samithi president Brijesh Chowta announced on Friday.

The all-night Kambala will have six categories - Naegilu Kiriya, Hagga Kiriya, Naegilu Hiriya, Hagga Hiriya, Kane Halage and Adda Halage.

The event will be inaugurated at 0930 hrs on January 25 and another programme will be held at 1800 hrs.
