Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A 70-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 got discharged from a hospital here on Sunday after she recovered from the novel coronavirus, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Sindu B Rupesh.

Seven other patients have also recovered and discharged in Dakshina Kannada till date. Total number of active cases in the district has decreased to 5 now.

As many as 232 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka till date.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Sunday climbed to 8447, including 764 cured and discharged, 1 migrated and 273 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Bengaluru, Jul 2: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru Director CS Patil said that good rainfall is expected in few districts during next five days.

The districts likely to receive rainfall include Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu. All these districts had received deficit rainfall till date from June 1.

"From June 1 to till date Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu districts received deficit rainfall. However, there is an expectation of good rainfall in these districts in next 5 days," said CS Patil.

"Coastal districts are very likely to experience light to moderate to widespread rainfall activity during the next five days," he added.

Bengaluru, May 18: With the detection of 99 fresh cases of COVID-19, highest single-day spike, including 24 from Bengaluru Urban district, the total number of persons contracted for the disease in the state has surged to 1,246.

Apart from 24 fresh cases in Bengaluru Urban district, Mandya recorded 17 cases followed by Uttara Kannada (09), Raichur (06), Yadagiri (06), Gadaga (05), Kalaburagi (10), Hassan (04), Koppal (03), Vijayapura (05), Mysuru (01), Belagavi (02), Ballari (01), Udupi (01), Kodagu (01) and Koppal (03).

So far 37 persons had succumbed to the virus in the state.
