Udupi: Vice principal held for forcibly kissing, sexually harassing student

amar Kundapur, Apr 14: A vice principal of a private nursing and commerce college located at Koteshwara in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district has been arrested by police on charge of forcibly kissing and sexually harassing a student on the campus.

Both accused and victim are natives of Kerala. Vice principal Amar was detained after a first year B.Com student lodged a complaint against him.

In her complaint the girl had accused Amar of constantly harassing for a several days and sending sexually explicit messages to her and other girls.

On one occasion the accused dragged her towards him, held her in inappropriate ways and forcibly kissed her, she complained.

She also accused a female teacher, identified as Deepa, of destroying the evidence by deleting the messages sent by Amar under the pretext of checking them.

The girl said that Amar threatened to rusticate her from the college if she brings the issue to the notice of others.

Amar was produced before a court after registering a case. Investigations are on.

before appointing any person as a principal institution must properly check their background. look at his face in any angle he doesnt look like a principal even attender job is also not suiting for him.

govt should take serious action against this issue all over, must install camera's all over the school so they are afraid of doing this things.

NIA conducts raids at 20 locations in Karnataka, TN over terror link suspicion

New Delhi, Feb 24: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids at more than 20 locations in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The latest raids are being carried out in connection with ISIS conspiracy cases.

More details are currently awaited regarding the cases.

Meanwhile, NIA had on February 15 filed a charge sheet against two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists before the agency special court, Jammu. The two terrorists are identified as Khalil Ahmad Kayani (34) and Mohammad Nazeem (23), both residents of Haveli Farwad Kahuta district in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The case is related to the arrest of the two accused near Nilkanth Nala, approximately 700 metres inside the Indian side of LoC, in Gulmarg Sector of Baramulla district.

Steady improvement in Karnataka's COVID recovery rate, says Medical Education Minister

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Karnataka has seen a substantial increase in COVID-19 recovery rate, which was 5.67 per cent in the last week, state Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said.

"Every day there is an increase in recovery rate which is higher by 9.17 per cent in Bengaluru city. The overall recovery rate of the state by Sunday evening was 42.81 per cent and it is 35.14 per cent in Bengaluru," the Minister wrote in a tweet.

Minister Sudhakar also directed officials to resolve the issue raised by a woman who had written to him about her struggle to take possession of the body of her father in St. Johns hospital, Madivala.

The hospital she claimed was charging money to hand over the body.

"It is inhuman on part of the hospital to refuse handover of the body. I came to know about this incident in the media and responded immediately to help out the woman," Dr. Sudhakar wrote in his tweet.

Karnataka has so far reported 74,598 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru: Over 1500 students, teacehrs to take part in ABVP state conference

Mangaluru, Feb 6: Over 1500 students and teachers are expected to take part in a three-day State-level conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) starting on Friday here.

Reception Committee chairman K.C. Nayak and secretary Shantharama Shetty told reporters here today that Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayana would inaugurate the conference at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall.

The former ABVP national president and former Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya would preside over the programme that would be attended by Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor P.S. Yadapadithaya, ABVP national organising secretary Ashish Chauhan and others.
