I will marry my Muslim friend; it's my wish: Hindu girl shames saffron groups

Mandya, Apr 15: Expressing frustration over continued harassment by BJP backed communal groups after she decided to marry her Muslim friend, Ashita, daughter of a paediatrician in Mandya, has appealed to the people to stay away from her familial affairs.

Shakeel Ahmed and Ashita alias Shaista Sultana

Brushing aside the allegations of so called love jihad', the well-educated girl, who has now changed her name as Shaista Sultana, said that no one forced her to accept Islam and that it was her wish to follow the religion and culture of her husband after the wedding.

“My life is mine and others have no business in it. I have been in love with a Muslim boy for past 12 years. He is my life. He is my future. I cannot live without him,” she said and requested the media not spread lies of love jihad'.

She also said that it was she who forced her Muslim friend and not vice versa. “Shakeel Ahmed (her boy friend) is very innocent boy. When he came to know that communal groups were harassing me and my parents for deciding to marry him, he was in shock. Finally, I and my parents convinced him and the wedding date was fixed,” she said.

“When both the families have agreed for the wedding who are they to oppose it? They are not only harassing us but also going against the constitution and law,” she said reminding that she has the right to choose her life partner.

Workers of the BJP and Bajrang Dal had protested outside her house in Mandya on Tuesday. Ashitha said some people even barged into her house and created tension. They have also called for a district-wide band on Saturday (April 16) in protest against the marriage, which is scheduled for April 17.

Threat call from Dubai

Meanwhile, Ashitha's father Dr Narendra Babu said he was getting threat calls. Speaking to reporters, he said a man claiming to be calling from Dubai warned him that if the marriage was not cancelled, either Ashitha or Shakeel would be bumped off. Another man, who identified himself as Avinash Joshi, offered to “personally counsel” the couple against the marriage.

Dr Babu said he had reported the threat calls to Diwakar, deputy director, Department of Women and Child Development, who has assured to take the necessary action. “Our daughter's happiness is all that matters. Our thanks to all those who support us,” he said.

If its true love why she has to leave her religion?
Whats so great she is getting after leaving religion?
She can be divorced with Three Words of Talaq, Her Husband can have three more wieves and she will not have any property rights.
What an enlightenment.

This is a very touchy subject. Religion plays a great role in one's lives, love also has a divine role as well. I hope and pray that the couple have a good life together. I also believe that one should not be forced to change any religion against his/her wishes. However, in this case the girl says categorically that it is she who changed her religion in her own accord. So, the pressures from society is perhaps not proper. It is done more from the anguish of religious than in any other vein.

Why is this uproar, a girl is going to marry a boy of her liking, but why to talk of changing the religion and reading of the text which is but a type of madness? Had all people been good, then bombardments would not have taken place. If this be the case, why are Pakistan, and other Muslim countries not secular? It is good to preach others, but not yourself. Why bare the terrorists carrying out bombardments? Leave minority-ism. If the medieval age Turks, Mughals were good enough then they would not have broken the sacred shrines. The victory of the sword will never last long.

First of all congrats to both of you.
As love is beyond religions and these communal people just wanna divide us on the basis of religion.
And If people really love each other they should accept them as they are. when we are not changing our other habits .
Then why we need to change to any religion .
When god is one.
Its should be leave on person by wat ever name he wanna call him either Allah or Shiva or Jesus.
Nobody should force him/her to call him by any name.
And other partner should respect his decision because that is what base of love is .

God Bless u both

what we are made to believe from childhood is that there is one supernatural power who is governing the world..in islam we call it ALLAH..in hinduism it is shiva, vishnu and brahmma..
but believe me..humanity has no religion..
those who pretend themselves as guru, baba are infact exploiting our rights.
we are born as human being..and we should try of becoming good human being at the end....all we want is happiness, joy, peace along with harmony among all.So there should be no barrier of religion among ones harmony.
IT IS US WHO HAD MADE OURSELVES EXPLOITED BY OTHERS....WE HAD GIVEN BIRTH TO WRONGDOERS....IN OUR HOME AND SOCIETY..we need to stand up against such irrational behavior from those who have nothing to do neither they are educate nor do they have any brain of humanity..these folks are useless.
good blessings are always with you..live a happy married life.

If U want to look at ISLAM, please I suggest to look into its SOURCE that is QURAN... and it has not changed since it has been REVEALED nor it has been concocted. The one who CREATED us, challenges it will be in the same form, the way it was REVEALED to Prophet of ALLAH (Muhammad pbuh.
So dont make such non sense comment which we know that U Stlll need to learn about the CREATOR, who created U & ME & all that exists.

Changing religion just for marriage is not a secular treand! They are getting married and no one should challenge them but neither it is love triumph not a secular marriage as one party has to convert. In all interreligious marriages where one partner has to change religion, secularism goes out of window. This is hypocrisy that u can fall in love with someone who is not from your religion but for marriage you need one from yous so conversion is a must. And stupid morons who are commenting here to moch or humiliate each others religion are the fanatics who are responsible for troubles in the life of couples involved in interreligious marriages..

To my Brothers and sisters ... KNOW ALLAH.
ALLAH is the lord of All that exists. and ALLAH also created EVIL....
Through Prophet MUHAMMAD pbuh he conveyed the message. Never FEAR EVIL when ALLAH is with YOU.
TRUST ALLAH, ALL EVILS will run away when they hear the name of ALLAH.
SAY BISMILLAH (in the name of ALLAH) ALLAHUMMA ikfinihim bimah Shihth - (O ALLAH, Suffice (protect) me against them however YOU wish) When U fear people of their harm.
Our faith should be STRONG in ALLAH and Dont FEAR the EVIL.

Cheddis, the DEVIL's agents will TRY to stop people who accept the TRUTH... DONT FEAR the cheddis, its a matter of time, HAVE patience and make DUA to the CREATOR of all the EXiSTS.
Any FEAR -- repeat this dua and never fear the evil. Allah is with us, Dont worry.

ALLAH, will make everything FEAR whoever FEARS HIM, and HE will make whoever FEARS PEOPLE - FEAR EVERYTHING.

On the onset, people from the girls community usually feel the pain. It is common. There is no strange in it.

But the case here is totally different. Both the girl and her parents supported their wish. both the girl and her parents are educated people.
The girl is not marrying and decided to accept husband's religion.
Educated people they know very well what is the religion, the purpose of religion, and finally they know how to identify the right religion. They have recognized the truth in Islam.

This case is an eye opener for Hindus. Now they should study their religion and compare it with Islam. They will definitely understand the truth in Islam. Sure they will uphold the Islamic values and I am sure all educated and learned Hindus will accept the truth which eventually motivate them to daringly follow Islam.
Worldwide the fastest growing religion is ISLAM. Because Islam does not bribe to accept it nor force to follow it.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: Hardline BJP leader and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who had deleted some of his old sexist tweets while contesting for Lok Sabha polls, yesterday deleted deleted his ugly remarks against Arab woman after it went viral and triggered sharp response from  many quarters, including from the Arab world.

In 2015, before Surya became an MP, he had said in a tweet, "95% of Arab women have never had an orgasm in the last few hundred years! Every mother has produced kids as an act of sex and not love. @Tarek Fatah."

The old tweet was picked up some influential members in the Arab community. Many intellectuals and various members of the royal families too have over the past few days condemned the attacks on Muslims in India and called out instances on Islamophobia. They have been highlighting derogatory comments about the Arab community purportedly made by supporters of the ruling BJP. It was then that a few found that even present day recognised leaders like Tejasvi had made similar comments in the past.

As the outrage grew, Tejasvi deleted the old tweet. A lot of BJP supporters on Twitter then started pointing out that Tejasvi Surya had merely quoted Canadian journalist Tareh Fatah, known for his anti-Islam comments. But by then someone had archived the tweet and Tejasvi's response to it in 2015.

In a thread to the same tweet, responding to criticism, Surya had said that these were not his opinion but attributed to Tarek Fatah. He also said that he agrees with Fateh's position that 'Islamofascism was a threat to all civilsations'.

Surya could not be reached for a comment.

However, a source close to Surya, said, "This is a 2015 tweet where Tejasvi Surya was quoting Tarek Fatah from an interview. It is being wrongly attributed to him with malicious intent. The main issue being addressed in the interview was about the barbaric and inhuman practice of genital mutilation of women. If there's any person to comment on it, it has to be Tarek Fatah."

Tejasvi Surya had landed in a similar controversy soon after his nomination as a candidate just ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Tejasvi Surya had landed in a similar controversy soon after his nomination as a candidate just ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress also stepped in to criticise Surya and the BJP, national spokesperson Sanjay Jha said in a tweet, “The BJP gives tickets to Pragya Singh Thakur and #TejasviSurya etc because it helps popularise their hardline bigoted political profile. But the chickens usually come home to roost. Today, India stands embarrassed, humiliated.”

Bengaluru, Mar 30: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday appealed to people to strictly follow the restrictions in the state, saying that the ending of 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 depends on how the public adheres to the rules.

In a press statement, Yediyurappa appealed to the people to help the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus by strictly following the lockdown.

"People of Karnataka are known for tolerance and patience. They are law-abiding citizens. Now, the lockdown in wake of coronavirus is a testing time for them. It has come to test the patience of our people, especially the people of Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has apologized and said that lockdown was an inevitable step taken by the government to protect people from the pandemic. We have to realise the predicament of a prime minister who always cares for the well being of the country and its people," the statement quoted Yediyurappa as saying.

"At this hour of crisis, it is not good on our part to come out of houses and violate the curfew. The ending of lockdown depends on strictness with which one follows the curfew and maintain social distancing. If one follows the curfew strictly, the lockdown period will automatically end on April 14. Whether to end the lockdown or not is in your hands," he said.

The Chief Minister urged not to test the patience of police, saying, "Already our police are under stress as they are working without any rest. Do not force them to use the force and later blame them for stern action."

He also appealed to follow the lockdown provisions and stay back in their home.
"The government has taken all measures to maintain the supply of essentials and food to the needy. Consider this situation as a blessing in disguise and spend your valuable time reading books which in turn will boost your knowledge and intellectual capacity. My earnest request to even the poor is spending your time by involving yourselves in creative activities inside your houses," Yediyurappa said.

"At the same time, it is time for us to respect the sacrificing work of the doctors, nurses, health staff and civic workers who are working round the clock to save the lives of hundreds of people affected by coronavirus. My appeal to you all strictly follows the curfew rules and maintains the social distance to combat COVID-19," he added.

Bengaluru, Apr 7: The Karnataka Government indicated today that it is too early to take a call now on lifting the nation-wide lockdown but said it’s in favour of its extension in COVID-19 hotspots in the country by at least an additional two weeks.

“We need to see for another few days before taking final call,” Medical Education Minister Sudhakar K, who is in-charge of all matters related to COVID-19, told news agency Press Trust of India when asked if the State is in favour of the rollback after the 21-day period ends on April 14.

The minister opined that the decision on its withdrawal should be based on the COVID-19 pandemic situation at the time in terms of number of cases and response to the outbreak.

When the lockdown is lifted, it has to be in a staggered and phased manner, and not at one go, Mr Sudhakar stressed.

“Where there are red alerts and zones, those zones, in my opinion, should continue to be in a lockdown situation at least for two weeks…till this month-end, I will request them (the Centre) to do this,” he said.

The Telananga Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend the 21-day national lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 outbreak beyond April 14, saying it was essential to save lives.

Mr Sudhakar said the Karnataka government is facing financial challenges because of drastic fall in revenues due to the lockdown, adding, it would take “tough decisions” to cut expenditure.

The Finance Department is in the process of evaluating the state’s fiscal position.

“Finance department is gathering information…what is the need now, what should be the overall expenditure, how much we can save; financial support for unorganised and organised sector, along with stimulus to other sectors, we have to see where we stand financially,” the minister said.

“Based on that, we have to take certain steps for sure because after all the government runs on the exchequer money. Once the exchequer is stopped because of lockdown, we are not getting GST, no motor vehicle tax. No tax money is coming.”

Government also has to run right? he said.

He said commitment and obligations with regard to paying interest on loans taken at the national and international level would have to be met.

“So, there are some financial constraints, and financial challenges before the government. The Government will take tough decisions only after studying the entire finance (position of the State).”

The Telangana government last week announced pay cut for government employees.

The Union Cabinet on Monday approved a 30 per cent cut in salaries of all Members of Parliament and a two-year suspension of the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.
