UAE: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club helps repatriate Indian expats' body

Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club, (registered with Community Development Authority, Govt of Dubai, UAE) with the assistance of the Indian Embassy, Abu Dhabi has managed to repatriate the body of Sheik Mohammed Saleem, 57-year old Indian national from Hyderabad, who died due to cardiac arrest on April 9 in Al Ain. He was working as a tailor and survived by his wife, children and family.

His relatives contacted the member of Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club, for their help to repatriate the body to India. Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club, positively responded for this humanitarian request and arranged the Authorization letter from deceased family and cleared the all the documentation formalities for dispatching the body to India and shifted the body from Al Ain hospital to Abu Dhabi Central Hospital on April 11.

With the help of UAE government authorities and Indian Consulate and his sponsor managed to repatriate the body to India on April 12. Prior to dispatch funeral prayer was held in Sheikh Khalifa Hospital Abu Dhabi. Its Executive member accompanied transportation of mortal to his home town Hyderabad, India.

The relatives and family members and his sponsor have appreciated the Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club, effort to dispatch the body to India within 2 days quick session. Embassy Community affairs officers extended all support to Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club members.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
