Family sources said that Mohammad Shaim, son of Shakir and Sajara couple, fell from the staircase at his home in Jokatte, here, while playing. The child suffered severe head injury.

It is learnt that when the grandfather of Shaim rushed him to a private hospital in Mangaluru, the latter was in a semi conscious state.

The doctors at the hospital reportedly had informed the family members that the child was not responding to any treatment. In the afternoon the child breathed its last.

On hearing the tragic news, the child's father, who works in a gulf country, flew back home.

Meanwhile, a few relatives of the child resorted to protest accusing the hospital of demanding “unnecessary fees”, a charge rubbished by the hospital management. However, the issue was resolved soon and the dead boy was handed over to the family members.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon. Sad incident. May Allah give sabr to the childs family
However, Its not respectful to resort to such things. If u find something unnecessary u can request the billing to explain.
The public as a whole must understand this. Quite often we complaint that hospitals and doctors do day light robbery from the patients. But we dont understand a doctors day and night hardships and a businessmans initial risk in running and maintaining a hospital with the best quality.
Its like buying an audi car first and then complainting about the high maintenance costs.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: Karnataka government today decided to go for complete lockdown. This includes the closure of all non essential government offices, suspension of all public transport services and banning of mass prayers in places of worships across the state.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had expressed the need for a complete lockdown like the Janta Curfew on Sunday. Going by this, there will be no government transport services at least till March 31 and as many as 19,000 government buses will be off the road.

The government also decided to cancel the famous Karaga festival. The CM said that all celebrations and functions will be called off along with mass prayers in mosques and churches.

The CM said that they have decided to procure 1,000 ventilators and 10 lakh face masks in addition to other health equipments.

Private hospitals have come forward to spare their doctors and nursing staff to attend to Covid-19 patients in government hospitals, the CM said.

Yediyurappa also said that he has directed the health department to paste notification on the houses of residents who are infected with coronavirus. This is being done after people with indelible seals and home quarantined are reported to be roaming freely. The notifications will help neighbours to keep an eye on them.

The CM said the government-run Indira Canteen will serve free food to the poor until the lockdown continues. He also said that action will be initiated against non essential shops that are open despite a directive to shut down.

Bengaluru, Mar 22: Monday's only pending II PU exam (English) and SSLC exams scheduled to start on March 27 have been postponed due to Covid-19 concerns. The new dates will be announced in April first week.

The decision was taken after a meeting with chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday morning, said state primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar.

Around 8.25 lakh students are to appear for the Class 10 exam.

"I appeal to SSLC students not to get frustrated. I know you're fully prepared, fully geared up. But this is a peculiar situation which calls for hard decisions. The new timetable will be published very soon. Students should treat is as an extended study leave. Please revise more. Do not treat this as a relaxation time. You'll have plenty of time to relax after the exams," he said.
