Praveen Togadia's cousin brother, two others stabbed to death in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, May 15: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Praveen Togadia's cousin brother Bharat Togadia and 2 other were stabbed to death by unidentified men on Saturday in Gujarat's Surat. Praveen Togadia is the working International President for VHP.

togadiaBharat is the brother of Praful Togadia who is a Congress candidate as well as the leader of Opposition of Surat Municipal Corporation.

Babu Hirani and Ashok Patel are the other two who were stabbed to death by unknown people on Saturday. One Mahesh Radadiya was seriously injured in the attack.

Surat Police has reportedly started investigating the case and a search operation for the accused is on. All entry and exit points in Surat have been blocked.

Besides the three persons who were murdered, one person received serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. Varachha is a Patel dominated area in the city where diamond factories are located.

“Police rushed to the spot. We don't have other details,” said a police official.

Bengaluru, Apr 18: With 12 fresh cases of the COVID-19 infection, including one woman, the total number of novel coronavirus cases in Karnataka surged to 371 on Saturday.

The sources said that as many as three new positive cases were reported from Mysuru district, followed by two each from Kalaburagi, Bhagalkote, one each case from Vijayapura, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag and Mandya, districts on Saturday.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Taking note of the communally hateful messages, news and pictures in the wake of coronavirus, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police (SP) Laxmi Prasad on Monday issued strict warning to people spreading such messages and news on local social media platforms.

The SP also confirmed that four cases under his jurisdiction have been registered for sending, forwarding messages with communal hate in the wake of coronavirus on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

He added the police department will not take any such messages, news, and images lightly which can potentially hurt the sentiments of the people of any community. He also added that those found guilty will be prosecuted under strict law and their gadgets, mobiles will be seized by the department.

Mangaluru, Apr 19: In order to boost the Coast Guard's (CG) surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities on the country's west coast in Karnataka, CG OPV Varaha and CG Dornier 785 ex Kochi were pressed to service to undertake extensive surveillance.

"Both seawards and aerial surveillance of Karnataka coast line will be undertaken from Sunday," said S Babu Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka. The surveillance will be an air-sea coordinated operation.

The Coast Guard ships and aircraft maintained extensive search in the area for intercepting any suspect vessel. Indian Coast Guard ships classified various contacts in the area and kept them under constant surveillance.
