Karnataka SSLC results out: girls outshine boys, Bengaluru Rural on top

Bengaluru, May 16: The results of the SSLC examination held in April 2016 were announced on Monday by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB).

The all round pass percentage stood at 79.16. As usual the girls (82.64%), outperformed the boys (75.84%).

Bangalore Rural district stood first with an overall pass percentage of 89.63 followed by Udupi (89.52) and Mangalore (88.01), while Ballari district with 56.68% saw the lowest number of students passing.

Ranjan from Bhadravathi secured the maximum possible marks by scoring 625/625.

Over 55,000 teachers were deployed to complete the evaluation work. The Supplementary examinations are scheduled to be held from 20th to 27th June.

Those students who have appeared in the SSLC exam this year can check the same on the board's official websites: - kseeb.kar.nic.in and karresults.nic.in.

The Karnataka Class 10th SSLC exams were conducted this year from March 30 to April 13. More than 8.49 lakh students reported to have appeared in the examination at 3,082 centres across the state. More details are awaited.

  • Log on to kseeb.kar.nic.in or karresults.nic.in
  • Enter your roll number and other details
  • Enter captcha code if required
  • Get the result
  • Students are advised to keep a print out of the result for future reference.

Bengaluru, Apr 2: About 1,500 people from Karnataka might have attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin in the national capital between March 8 to 20. Of these, the State has been able to trace 800 people.
 
Of the 800 persons, 143 people have been found to be symptomatic.
 
Mr Jawaid Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), in a statement here on Thursday said that the Centre had sent the list of 1,500 people to the State.
 
“We cannot say if all these have attended the congregation. Some of them may have attended and some may be the contacts of those who have attended. We have been able to trace 800 from the list and samples of 143 symptomatic persons have been sent for tests."

Bengaluru, Jul 30: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP) on Wednesday issued a notice restricting the sacrifice of animals during Bakrid or other religious occasions in certain places.

This year Eid al-Adha or Bakra eid will be celebrated on August 1.

"The administration has prohibited the sacrifice of animals in public roads, footpaths, inside or outside the premises of hospitals/nursing homes, schools and colleges, temples mosques, other religious places or public places," the BBMP said in a public notice.

Person or organisation violating the notice is liable to be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, stated BBMP.

Bengaluru, May 28: The Karnataka government has done away with previously mandatory COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic international travellers. 

The development comes a day after the government issued a circular, which allowed placing of international travellers into home quarantine if they had completed seven days of institutional quarantine.

A circular signed by Jawaid Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary to the State Government, dated May 27, says that any “person who has completed seven days of institutional quarantine and is asymptomatic can be permitted for home quarantine with a COVID-19 test (RT-PCR), subject to undergoing a medical check-up.”

This check-up equates to thermal screening (with a required temperature of under 37.5C or 99.5F and pulse oximetry of under 94%). 

The circular added that all elderly people, over the age of 60, and those with comorbidities (such as Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, asthma, heart ailment, renal disease...etc) are “required to be clinically evaluated diligently prior to shifting them for quarantine.”

On Wednesday, Pankaj Pandey, Commissioner, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said that these new guidelines were based on recommendations from the COVID Task Force. A member of the COVID Task Force said that new strategies had been formulated based on the latest findings on how the SARS-Cov-2 virus affects people.
