Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Bengaluru, May 1: Karnataka has reported 11 new cases of coronavirus, taking the State's count to 576, informed the Health Department on Friday.

Out of the total COVID-19 cases found in the State, 235 people have been discharged and 22 people have died.

"11 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Karnataka from April 30, 5 pm till noon today, taking the total number of cases to 576, which includes 22 deaths and 235 discharges," said the State government COVID-19 bulletin.

Udupi, Jul 27: Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa has appointed BJP leader Lalaji R Mendon as the new chairman of the State Backward Classes Commission.

Mendon is a three-time MLA from the Kapu Assembly constituency. During his second term as MLA, he was the Director in Konkan Railway’s Board.

Mr Yediyurappa has appointed 24 MLAs to different corporations in the state. Mendon is only one from coastal Karnataka.

Mendon is the only MLA representing BJP from fishermen's community. He was the president of Kaup unit of BJP Yuvamorcha. He also served as the state BJP secretary.

Mangaluru, May 20: In a gut-wrenching tragedy, a Class 10 student who was preparing for the final examinations drowned in Adyapady dam on the outskirts of the city yesterday.

The victim is Mallik, 17, a resident of Mulur village in Gurpur. The tragedy occurred when Mallik along with some others had come to the dam to catch fish.

According to the police, he accidentally slipped into the waters and drowned. His body was recovered later. 

Jurisdictional Bajpe police have registered a case of unnatural death and investigations are underway.
