Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mangaluru, Jan 5: To keep an hawk's eye on the city, 15 prominent and crowded junctions in the city will have the most advanced CCTV cameras installed under the Smartcity project.

The junctions are-- Bejai KSRTC, Pumpwell, Vamanjoor, Padil, Mullikatte, Bejai, Bendoor, Falnir, Morgans Gate, Kulashekara-Shakthinagar Cross, Kottara Chowki, Kuntikan, Rao & Rao Circle, Padavinangady and Kavoor junctions.

According to top police officials, these junctions will receive approximately 75 cameras to check crime and aid in solving the cases of murder and robbery in the city.

A ‘smartpole’ will be installed there with each pole containing about five cameras along with a 360 degree swivelling camera.

Bengaluru, May 12: About 101 labourers bound for Rajasthan from Bengaluru in a goods truck were detained near a border Checkpost at Hirebagewadi village in Belagavi taluk on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway and have been sent into institutional quarantine on Tuesday.

Police said that the Labourers comprising of men, women and children had been travelling towards Rajasthan in a goods truck without permission from Karnataka and even from their home State Rajasthan.

In the morning hours, police and other department personnel manning the check post near...check post near Hirebagewadi detained them.

Mumbai, Apr 15: A 35-year-old man, who worked as a priest in suburban Kandivali, allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday afternoon, hours after learning that lockdown to contain coronavirus has been extended.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Pujari, native of Udupi in Karnataka, who was attached to Durga Mata temple in Iraniwadi area of Sanjay Nagar.

Pujari, who lived with three other priests, was waiting for the lockdown to end as he wanted to go back to his hometown, a police official said.

When he learnt that the lockdown has been extended till May 3, he was terribly depressed and allegedly hanged himself in kitchen, the official added.

No suicide note has been found, he said.
