Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

For details, players may contact Srikanth Rai (ph: 9845202879) or KSCA Mangalore Zone office, stated a press release.

Bengaluru, Jun 12: All the four candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda (JDS), and senior Congress leader Mallikarjna Kharge, on Friday were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Karnataka Assembly Secretary sources here said that all the four candidates, who were in the fray for as many berths, were elected after the last date of withdrawal of candidature ended on Friday.

Bengaluru, Apr 20: The cumulative positive cases of COVID-19 in Karnataka stand at 408, including 16 deaths and 112 people discharged.

Karnataka's Department of Health and Family Welfare in a media bulletin said: "As of 5 pm on April 20, cumulatively 408 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state. It includes 16 deaths and 112 discharges."

Out of the remaining 280 cases, 278 COVID-19 positive patients including one pregnant woman in isolation at designated hospitals are stable, and two are in ICU, added Health and Family Welfare Department.

"18 new cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 in the State from Sunday 5 pm to Monday at 5 pm," added the department.

Shivamogga, Jun 20: Shivamogga District unit of Congress led by party veteran Kagodu Thimmappa staged a protest against state government's proposal to amend the land reform act, which will allow non-agriculturist to buy farmland.

The leaders of Farmers' Union (Raith Sangh) also staged a protest at Mahaveer circle and questioned CM's stand as he took oath in the name of farmers.

The district congress staged a protest at the premise of the Deputy Commissioner office in Shivamogga city.

The protesters termed Karnataka Government led by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa as an anti-farmers government.

According to Congress and Raith Sang, the proposed amendments to Karnataka State Land reforms act 1961 will cause harm to farmers.

"According to the proposed amendment, non-agriculturists like business tycoons can also purchase the agriculture land. This will help the businessman and will be harmful to farmers," protesters said.
