Bengaluru, Aug 16: Labelling the Modi government as “publicity hungry,” Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has said that there had been only talk by the government, and no action on ground.

He was participating in the Independence Day celebrations at the Congress office in the city on Monday. There had been a series of atrocities against Dalits and minorities, he said.

JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda asked the government to immediately withdraw cases against the farmers who took part in the Mahadayi protests. He was speaking at the Independence Day celebrations at the JD(S) party office.

Bengaluru, Jul 4: Karnataka Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Saturday that he and his family would get tested for COVID-19 after one of his security persons tested positive for the infection.

Rao's family will also be in-home quarantine for the stipulated time.

"One of my police security person has tested positive for COVID yesterday. My family members and I are getting tested now and will be in-home quarantine for the stipulated time period. None of us are showing any symptoms," he said.

The total number of cases in Karnataka stands at 19,710. Out of them, 8,805 have recovered and 293 patients have lost their lives, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Across the country, the total number of cases stands at 6,48,315. As many as 3,94,227 patients have recovered so far and 18,655 have lost their lives due to the virus.

Bantwal, Jan 11: Seven people were booked for organising protest without taking permission or intimation, police said on Saturday.

The alleged accused were identified as Nandavar Juma Masjid President Basheer, Khateeb of the Masjid Abdul Majeed Darimi, Gram Panchayath President Mohammed Shareef Nandavar, former President of Masjid Majeed, Arif Nandavar, Mustafa and Abubaker.

They have been booked for allegedly organising protest outside Nandavar Juma Masjid on Jan 10 afternoon without intimation to police or obtaining permission.

Bengaluru, Feb 13: 'Karnataka Bandh' call given by various Kannada organisation demanding implementation of Sarojini Mahashi report for ensuring job reservation to local people (Kannadigas) in the Private and government organisation, including industries, evoked mixed response in the State on Thursday.

The Bandh call was given by the “Karnataka Sanghatanegala Okkoota”, comprising a few factions of “Karnataka Rakshana Vedike” (KRV) and was backed by Ola-Uber Cab Drivers’ Association, a few auto unions, farmers’ associations, street vendors association, trade unions and transporters’ associations.

Meanwhile, Airport Taxi Services also supported the Bandh which forced flight passengers to find it difficult in finding the transport for reaching their destination in time. Fortunately, BMTC bus services at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) was available at the Airport.
