Cows rescued' by vigilantes in coastal Karnataka end up in slaughterhouses'

Mangaluru, Aug 20: Condemning the coldblooded murder of a BJP worker by so called gau-rakshaks' in Udupi, Congress leader and MLC Ivan D'Souza said that the saffron party had no moral right to talk about cattle transportation as its own activists involved in such illegal business.

cow Speaking to Coastaldigest.com, Mr D'Souza claimed that those who attack cattle transporters, also sometimes indulge in cattle trafficking.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has admitted that cattle protectors are anti-social elements. In spite of his warning, the so called cattle protectors have murdered a youth in Udupi. Ironically the victim is also a BJP worker,” he said.

He also said that in many instances, the cows “rescued” during transportation by Hindutva vigilantes in coastal Karnataka have ended up in slaughterhouses.

He said that many Hindutva leaders claiming themselves as protectors of cows were involved in beef export business.

“Beef export is a Rs 480-crore business in India. Those who are claiming to be the protectors of cows are involved in beef export business,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee on Friday petitioned J. Arun Chakravarthy, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), seeking strict action against the self-styled gau rakshaks.

Sood’s statement came on Wednesday following panic among people after the government’s announcement of a 21-day long nationwide lockdown starting on March 24.

Mangaluru | Miscreants pour kerosene on 200kg beef, thrash driver after waylaying vehicle

Mangaluru, June 21: A gang of miscreants intercepted a goods auto-rickshaw which was legally transporting beef from an abattoir to market and attacked its driver in heart of the city this morning.

The attack comes exactly a week after a gang of Bajrang Dal miscreants thrashed a cattle trader at Urwa while legally transporting four buffalos to Kudroli abattoir on June 13.

Today, a person identified as Abdul Rasheed was transporting around 200 kilograms of beef from Kudroli abattoir to Kankanady market.

Meanwhile, miscreants began to chase beef laden vehicle and managed to waylay it near Highland Hospital. They thrashed Abdul Rasheed and poured kerosene on the beef besides damaging the vehicle.

The miscreants fled in their car and motorbikes after passersby began to gather.

They same terrorists are involved in transporting live animals to beef export houses in Gujrat owned by Brahmins / Jains. Will you be loyal to your duty and promise. We will see how you will handle the issue failing which you will lose our respect and we will consider you as a dramabaz and phenku. You should follow the law and treat everyone equally. There should not be any pity on goondas/ terrorists belonging to sangh parivar. The terrorists who thrashed the auto driver and damaged the auto and burnt the meat by pouring kerosene are not human beings and should be treated as anti nationals + terrorists. Health of migrants should not be jeopardized as they return to their places: HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, May 4: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that the health of the migrants who have been allowed to move, should not be jeopardized and appropriate tests must be conducted.

"The task was to send the workers to their places. However, their health should not be jeopardized. This decision made for their benefit should not be a travesty for them. There will also be physical interference on the buses and appropriate tests must be done," said Kumaraswamy.

"The lockdown, which was implemented without any prerequisites, is now loosened without warning. The state government, which has allowed migrant workers to move to the city, has mobilized large numbers of people. By this, the government is playing with their health," he added.

He continued saying that the government should not lose out on an unscientific move that resulted in the loss of thousands of crores of rupees from a custodial lockdown.

"Workers and villages must be sober. The government must take all necessary precautions in this regard," he added.
