19-year-old college girl clubbed to death by senior in classroom

Karur/Madurai, Aug 31: Close on the heels of the cold-blooded murder of IT employee Swathi at a railway station in Chennai, a 19-year-old student was clubbed to death by her senior inside the classroom at a private engineering college near Karur on Tuesday. Police suspect unrequited love to be the motive for the murder.

According to police, the victim, identified as K Sonali, hails from Manamadurai in Sivaganga district, and is studying third year civil engineering in a private engineering college near Karur.

The accused Udayakumar (22) hailing from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram was studying in the same college till last November after which it is said he had reportedly dropped out.

Sources claimed Udayakumar was in one sided love with Sonali, and proposed to her a couple of times but she refused downright and stopped talking to him. On Tueday, Udayakumar entered Sonali's classroom and started to assault her with a wooden log. 

Though the faculty Sathish Kumar (24) tried to prevent the accused, he was overpowered and suffered severe injuries on his hands. Soon after the brutal assault , Udayakumar fled the spot. Sonali was taken to a private hospital in Karur, but she succumbed to her injuries.

As far as i have seen, people from chennai are very selfish and don\t even care for other peoples life,as i can recall the same incident happened in railway station and no body came for her aid.Humanity is no more,animals are better than humans."

Sorry to hear this unfortunate event....other students who are gathered around could have saved her by over pouring that criminal.....selfish people....because of them one valuable life lost around....

Bhatkal, Mar 30: Uttara Kannada district administration has decided to shift all those Bhatkal residents who have returned from abroad after March 15 to quarantine facilities in Bhatkal town to avoid further family contacts, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada K Harish Kumar said on Monday.

“All primary contacts identified are already in government quarantine facilities,” he said in a communique.

All people must cooperate to maintain social distancing to avoid further spread of COVID-19, he added.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Saturday, April 11, welcomed the State government’s decision to permit fishing during the lockdown that’s now extended till April 30.

“We welcome the Centre’s decision to permit fishing during the lockdown. This directive comes as a huge relief for the fishing community,” Poojary told newsmen here.

Poojary informed that 14,000 boats will be deployed for fishing. Keeping the need for social distancing in mind only five crew members will be allowed on a boat. The boats can set sail in the morning and should return by evening.

Udupi, Jul 14: Abhijna Rao, a student of Vidyodaya PU College, Udupi, has emerged state topper in the science stream of II PUC. 

Abhijna has secured 596 marks in the II PUC examination-2020, the results of which were announced on Tuesday July 14. She scored a perfect 100 marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science (PCMC). In Sanskrit and English she scored 100 and 96 marks respectively.

She had secured second position in the Karnataka SSLC examinations two years ago.

She is daughter of Asha Rao and Vittal Rao, a retired professor. Her sister Raksha Rao has completed Engineering from NITK Suratkal.

“After securing second rank in the state in SSLC, my target was to score more in PUC examinations. My parents and lecturers have supported me in my studies. All my teachers gave me proper guidance. Vidyodaya College also supported me. I was studying on a daily basis. The exams were easy and I had expected to score above 590. I am very happy to score 596," she said.
