Udupi, Sep 8: People of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of coastal Karnataka should treat Kannada as their mother and Tulu as their father, said Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt.

seerHe was speaking after welcoming a chariot (ratha) spreading awareness on the Vishwa Tuluvere Aayano' (World Tulu Conference) to be held at Badiadka near Kasaragod from December 9 to 13. He later flagged off the chariot near Rajangana.

Stating that harmony among all languages goes a long way in protecting culture, the seer urged the people of twin districts to love and respect both Kannada and Tulu equally.

The seer said that everyone should be proud of their language. But people should shun a parochial approach on the issue. “It is essential that all languages coexist peacefully with one another,” he said.

The seer said that Kannada is the administrative language of Karnataka. But Tulu is considered the lingua franca of Tulunadu, comprising Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts.

A wide variety of languages are spoken in Tulunadu, including Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Beary, Konkani, Kundagannada, Aregannada, Havyaka Kannada and Kodava.

Mother, Father.
Mother, Father.
Mother, Father.
Each and everything is a Father or Mother.
But, finally ignore real mother and father.
They end up on roads or old age homes.

New Delhi, Jul 3: The aviation regulator DGCA said on Friday it was extending the suspension of scheduled international passenger flights in the country till July 31 but added that some international scheduled services on selected routes may be permitted on a case to case basis.

Scheduled international passenger flights were suspended in India on March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Modifying its June 26 circular that stated that scheduled international passenger flights will remain suspended till July 15, 2020, the regulator stated on Friday it has decided to extend the deadline to July 31, 2020.

However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis,” said the circular by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Air India and other private domestic airlines have been operating unscheduled international repatriation flights under the Vande Bharat Mission, which was started on May 6 by the Central government.

India resumed scheduled domestic passenger flights on May 25, after a gap of two months.

Dubai, Apr 14: Around 2,500 Indians have approached Indian missions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) seeking help to be flown home during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, top diplomats have said.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai together have received requests from "a little more than 1,000 individuals" while the latter has received an additional request from an employer who has laid-off around 1,000 Indian workers, reports Gulf News on Monday.

According to the Indian Ambassador to the UAE Pavan Kapoor, the missions have not been bombarded with mass requests from the people who wish to take an immediate flight home unlike widespread reports on social media.

Most of the individuals who have expressed their interest to return home are visitors and those who lost their jobs, he told Gulf News.

Consul General of India in Dubai, Vipul said his mission had received nearly 1000 requests via email and phone from people who want to return home.

"A majority of them are visit visa holders. On Sunday, we got information about another large group of around 1,000 Indian workers who have lost jobs. The employer has got in touch to know the options to send them back home as early as possible," he told Gulf News.

However, the diplomatic heads refuted unverified reports that claim tens of thousands of Indians were scrambling to fly home during the pandemic.

They added that the missions have been aiding hundreds of workers, who have been left in the lurch by their employers, with provisions.

The Indian government had said that flight services cannot be resumed during the lockdown period, which has now been extended till May 3.
