The protesters, who gathered in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner in the city, held Mr Siddaramaiah completely responsible for the suicide spree of farmers in Karnataka and a recent Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery issue in favour of Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the protesters, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada constituency, called Mr Mr Siddaramaiah a “murderer” and “cheat”.

“Mr Siddaramaiah had once called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a murderer. Now the people of Karnataka have realised that Mr Siddaramaiah himself is a murderer. A large number of farmers had to end their lives because of the anti-farmer policies of Karnataka government. Several police officers also committed suicide unable to bear torture and harassment from this government.

Shantaveerappa Gowda, State president of BJP Raita Morcha, Rajeev Bhandary, District president of BJP Raita Morcha and Sanjeeva Matandoor, District president of BJP also spoke on the occasion.

Blaming other party is an easy task. Solving a problem is a difficult task. What did BJP as a ruling party do to solve this problem during the tenure of Yeddy, DVS and Shettar? Bull shit.

What benefit govt is giving us so that we can transfer the same goodness to our workers? Or are the funds only to buy and sell MLA?

New Delhi, Apr 27: Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has said the monthlong ongoing lockdown has yielded positive results and that the country has managed to save “thousands of lives”.

Modi, who had a videoconference with various heads of the states on Monday, said the impact of the coronavirus, however, will remain visible in the coming months, according to a press statement released by his office. On the issue of getting back Indians who are overseas, the Prime Minister said that this has to be done keeping in mind the fact that they don’t get inconvenienced and their families are not under any risk.

During the meeting with state heads, Modi advocated for social distancing of at least 6 feet and the use of face masks as a rapid response to tackle COVID-19.

He said that states should put their efforts of converting hotspots, or red zones, into “orange and thereafter green zones”.

India last week eased the lockdown by allowing shops to reopen and manufacturing and farming activities to resume in rural areas to help millions of poor, daily-wage earners. But the economic costs of the nationwide lockdown continue to mount in a country of 1.3 billion people.

Modi, who put India under a strict lockdown on March 25, did not say if the lockdown restrictions will extend after May 3.

India has confirmed over 27,000 cases of the coronavirus, including 872 deaths.

Bengaluru, Jul 16: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday hit out at state Health Minister B Sriramulu for stating that "only God can save Karnataka" from COVID-19 and asked him to resign from his post.

Speaking to media here in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said, "The government cannot say that we are helpless. Why is the government in power? You have power and you have money. It is your primary duty to serve the citizens of the state."

On being asked about Karnataka Health Minister's statement, the Congress leader said: "Let him resign and go out. God will help you only if you will put all your efforts."

Meanwhile, President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee DK Shivakumar tweeted "Karnataka's Health Minister saying 'Only God can save Karnataka' reflects poorly on @BSYBJP govt's ability to handle the Covid crisis. Why do we need such a government if they cannot tackle the pandemic?"

Sriramulu had said on Wednesday that either people should inculcate awareness or only God can save them from COVID-19.

"Who can save us at this time? It's either God or people should inculcate awareness in them. Congress leaders are involved in political mudslinging at this time. This is not fine and it will not help them in any way," the Minister had said.

"It is a crucial time, in the interest of the general public. I request all the Congress leaders not to indulge in loose talk regarding the issue, it leads to more panic situation among the general public. We are ready to adhere to any punishment if we did any wrong thing," he had added.
