Trolls invite BJP leaders to try delicacies of beef-loving Kerala

September 26, 2016

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26: The BJP may be busy brainstorming on its strategy in the picturesque town of Kozhikode but a string of social media pages are having a field day baiting the saffron party leaders to try out the region's most famous culinary export: The beef biryani.

modibeef

A page with the hashtag #ShahtoRahmath' invites BJP leaders to Hotel Rahmath known for red meat dishes with a combo offer, a beef biryani with a sulaimani (lemon-blended black tea). “Amit Shah and Modi would love Gomata but that would dry up after eating beef biryani from Rahmath,” said one of the posts on the page.

Another reminded delegates not to forget to take a parcel of “Kozhikodan halwa” before leaving. Interestingly, non-vegetarian halwa is also available in select shops in the coast city where the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed first in 1498 in search of spices.

The trigger for the sarcasm: The BJP has repeatedly pitched in for cow protection statutes nationwide and many states ruled by the party have banned cow slaughter. The party is also accused by opposition leaders to be anti-beef consumption.

CPI(M) youth wing leader Mohamad Riyaz in his post said delegates can have their choicest meal fearlessly as no one would look or check their plates here. He also took a jibe at Modi, saying he could find such things in Kerala only, not in Somalia. During the assembly election campaign, the PM had courted trouble by equating Kerala with Somalia, citing the infant mortality rate of children in the tribal hamlets of Attapadi.

This isn't the first time other parties have tried to use beef to push the BJP on the back-foot. After Uttar Pradesh man Mohammad Ikhlaq was lynched last year for allegedly slaughtering a cow, many Left outfits organised beef festivals throughout the state. Embarrassed BJP state leaders had to come out saying they were against a beef ban in Kerala.

In Kerala, beef accounts for about 40% of the total meat consumed. Not only Muslim and Christians but also a majority of Hindus relish dishes made out of cow meat.

Good question. But here is the answer

1. So that He(Allah) may test as to which of us(Humans) follow the command.

Eg: Allah commanded Adam not to consume the fruit in paradise. Just to test if Adam obeys the command.

Some creation are created, just as a test for mankind.

2. Pigs eat waste products, and their own shit, be it garbage/excreta/etc, so they eat humans' byproducts and keep drains clean. They are also used in land cleaning in many places.

Allah also created dinosaurs.

The whole world is under the impact of pandemic Covid 19. Government of India has announced the flights to repatriate its stranded citizens from all over the world. Sadly, the first batch of the announced flights had no mention of any flights from Gulf countries to Karnataka.

In Gulf countries, especially in UAE, thousands of Kannadigas are working for their livelihood. In this population major part is shared by coastal Karnataka people who belong to Mangalore, Udupi and other nearby districts. This lack of consideration of Mangaloreans for repatriation was made whole Kannadiga’s in deep sadness, where as many Kannadiga’s were waiting for flights to obtain urgent medical assistance and other medical support back in their home country.

Once after obtaining the news of not having flights to Karnataka from UAE, Mr. Praveen Shetty immediately actioned and wrote letter to concerned departments and ministers under the banner of KNRI. Mr. Praveen Shetty was in continuous follow up with Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Dr. Ashwath Narayan, Mr C.T. Ravi Minister for Tourism of Karnataka, Union Minister of India Mr. Sadananda Gowda, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs (India) Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Railways of India (Minister of State) Mr. Suresh Angadi and officials of Aviation ministry along with other concerned departments.

The efforts have now given the result and finally the confirmation has been obtained from Mr. Sadananda Gowda about consideration of repatriation flights to Mangalore from Dubai on May 14th. It is expected that Aviation ministry will officially announce the flight arrangement and other operational information shortly.

Speaking to media, Mr. Praveen Shetty said, Karnataka NRI Forum is always committed to serve  Kannadigas and the collective effort of core committee members, ministers of Karnataka & Govt of India including the Aviation & other concerned ministries made possible the most important and much awaited flight to Mangalore from UAE to repatriate expats who are in need. I thank each and everyone who joined their hands to make this possible.

Mr. Praveen Shetty is a well-known businessman in UAE who manages Fortune Group of Hotels in UAE & Georgia. He selflessly given his 3-star hotel to UAE ministry to operate as Quarantine facility to people who are under observation with Covid 19. Also, he joined his hands with organizations in UAE who are extending their helping hand to needy people in UAE.

With the help of likeminded businessmen and professionals, the KNRI forum under the leadership of Mr. Praveen Shetty along with ‘Dubai Anivasi Kannadigaru’ started a helpline called “Kannadigas Helpline” through which they received around 3000 requests for food, medical, legal and other assistance. They aided many Covid infected people with quarantine and isolation by the help of Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health, Dubai Police and Consulate General of India under the guidelines of Dubai Govt.

Mr. Praveen Shetty expressed his gratitude to Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health, Dubai Police and Consulate General of India for their professional guidance and help to Kannadigas during the pandemic Covid 19 situation.

Newsroom, Jan 29: Karnataka’s capital has earned the unwelcome distinction of global capital of traffic congestion. According to a report by TomTom, the Netherlands-based global provider of navigation, traffic and map products, Bengaluru beat 415 other cities across 57 countries to earn the title of world's most traffic congested city in 2019.

“Bengaluru takes the top spot this year with drivers in the southern Indian city expecting to spend an average of 71% extra travel time stuck in traffic," TomTom said in the ninth edition of its annual Traffic Index.

Three other Indian cities, namely, Mumbai, Pune and New Delhi are also ranked in the 2019 edition of TomTom’s Traffic Index of the world’s most traffic-congested cities.

The report released on Tuesday ranks cities by the average time added to a trip. TomTom index also includes details on when congestion is heaviest and lightest, how highways compare with surface streets, and how much time drivers wasted waiting for other drivers to get out of their way.

Following closely on the heels of Bengaluru is Manila, Philippines, with the similar 71% traffic congestion. Among the top five worst traffic affected cities are Mumbai and Pune from India at the fourth and fifth place respectively, while Bogota, Colombia is on third spot.

Delhi, the national capital of India is on the 8th spot, while Moscow (Russia), Lima (Peru), Istanbul (Turkey) and Jakarta (Indonesia) are on 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th spot respectively.

Mumbai recorded a 65% traffic congestion with 9th September, 2019 being the worst day. On an average, a Mumbaikar lost 209 hours in traffic congestion. Pune has 59% traffic congestion with 2nd August, 2019 being the worst day. 193 hours are lost due to congestion. Delhi, on the other hand, has 56% traffic congestion. 23rd October, 2019 was the worst day, while 190 hours are lost in traffic congestion.

Interestingly, among all the four Indian cities, Delhi has the most number of cars. Previous studies have concluded that Delhi has the best road conditions among the Metro cities of India.

If you are wondering what exactly the percentages mean, a 53% congestion level in Bangkok, for example, means that a trip will take 53% more time than it would during Bangkok’s baseline uncongested conditions.

TomTom calculates the baseline per city by analyzing free-flow travel times of all vehicles on the entire road network – recorded 24/7, 365 days a year. The report by Dutch navigation and mapping company ranks cities by the average time added to a trip. It also includes details on when congestion is heaviest and lightest, and how much time drivers wasted waiting for other drivers to get out of their way.
