S M Rashid Haji, the president of the Association told media persons on Tuesday that they have already distributed cards to around 85 beneficiaries.

“Today, we distributed beneficiary cards, health cards and free SIM cards to the sole bread winners of 32 poor families. In the past we had distributed such cards to over 50 beneficiaries,” he said.

He said that aspirants of the beneficiary cards can still apply for the same with a certificate from their jurisdictional mosque jamaaths. The last date to submit applications is November 30, 2016.

The intention behind the formation of the Association was to help the poor families in case of the sudden demise of their breadwinners. The Association will donate Rs 2 lakh to the family of each beneficiary card holder after his or her demise.

The families of only those who get beneficiary cards from DKMA will be eligible to receive the amount after their demise. They beneficiaries will also be eligible to get free treatment at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital at Deralakatte.

He said that the Association will distribute beneficiary cards the poor men or women only if they were the breadwinners of their family. “Cards will not be distributed to those who don't work,” he clarified.

Donors Mansoor Azad, Shaukath, Asif Home Plus and Sulaiman Karaya were present on the occasion.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: The state government has identified five districts, including Dakshina Kannada, as 'cluster zones' or 'Red zones,' to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus.

The other four districts include Mysuru, Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru and Chikkaballapur.

Mangaluru has been under strict lockdown, as it is close to Kasargod in Kerala, which reported many positive cases and is also one of the 'hotspots' in the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) list.

New Delhi, Mar 21: Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister B. Sriramulu on Saturday informed that one more person was tested positive for the coronavirus in the state.

He said that a total of 16 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the state so far.

The victim had come from Mecca and was kept in quarantine facility by the state authorities.

"For a 32-year-old man, who had just returned from a trip to Mecca has found COVID-19 positive. The infection has been confirmed. He has already been treated at an isolated ward of the hospital. Citizens must not have any sort of anxiety," tweeted Sriramulu.

Also, the news and public relations department, the Indian Red Cross Society and the Karnataka State Labour Studies Institute have invited volunteers for the programme to provide real-time information to people to avoid spreading rumours and misinformation about coronavirus.

At least four volunteers will work in four shifts per day in each taluk of the state. There are about 120 volunteers in Bengaluru city and about 3,000 Corona Warriors are expected to register from across the state. Over 400 volunteers have registered via online application on the first day.
