1.5 lakh PoP gods', 2.65 lakh mud gods' immersed in Bengaluru lakes this year

Bengaluru, Oct 3: Despite of a ban imposed by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board on Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesha idols, nearly 1.50 lakh such “banned gods” have been immersed in various lakes across Bengaluru city during recent Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

ganesha

Officials of the KSPCB said that over one third of the Ganesha idols immersed in the city's lakes this time are PoP idols. Over 2.65 lakh mud idols of Ganesha also have been immersed in those lakes.

Earlier KSPCB Chairman Lakshman revealed that there were around 50,000 PoP idols in the market in different parts of Karnataka including 35,000 in Bengaluru alone this time. According to manufacturers, the idols sold in the market were old stock and they have sought permission to clear them this year.

The KSPCB has banned the use and immersion of PoP idols in water bodies. The action followed a notification issued by the National Green Tribunal in 2013. The NGT?had ordered pollution control boards to conduct a study on pollution caused due to immersion of PoP and coloured idols and ban them under Section 33 of The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)?Act, 1974.

once my parents met with tragic accident in mumbai, the auto in which they were travelling was hit head on with a truck, the truck driver fled away, my father bounced out of Auto, lying on the road unconscious with blood coming out of mouth, my mother jumped out of the auto with my younger brother who was kid then, and my mom cried for help, nobody came, she kept crying and it was evening, She was pleading for help in Tulu also, then suddenly a tempo driver who was passing by came for help, said, Akka, don't worry i will help, he took everyone to hospital, later my dad regained consciousness. He came to our house and then further we learnt that this person was a native of Mangalore and he resides at near the temple of our Kula-devi Godess on hearing my mom's plea he came to help. further he happened to be my father's elder brother's classmate. TRUE INDIAN, When you find answers to below questions you will get answer for what you have asked.

Does your god really in need of your prayers 5 times?if you don't pray then what? what will happen to god? why he orders you to pray?
Does your god benefit from your prayers? does your god gets power from it?
Does your god requires blood transfusion every year and so you perform goat sacrifices?
Is your god Jealousy, angry god? that he tells you if you worship any other god than him, he will burn you in hell fire.
Do you really believe that there are 72 virgins for all your men. Then what about women, they too pray, how god will reward them, where will they go after death? PONDER over this questions.

Do you really believe that God almighty makes mistakes at the time of creations, and he keeps sending messengers one by one and finally he rectifies all mistakes and sends final messenger? Do you think god is human being to make mistakes?

If you people wait for day of final judgement, what about all those who are born and dead before your Islam religion was formed, Its not their mistake they were born before your prophet gave the Holy message from god. How whether god will give them hell or heaven.?

Instead of asking me to use brain, you use it and try to find out why.

Regarding Lord shiva, He knows everything, Ganesha created by parvati and so he cut the head of Ignorance, pride and replaced it with head of wisdom & humility.

Lord rama, Ma sita, knew everything since begininng, so they never objected to whatever was happening. Even Ravan was Brahmin pandit, great Astrologer, he very well knew that Ram was Lord Vishnu himself, he wanted to attain salvation at the hands of Lord Ram, not only this he wanted salvation for his entire Rakshasa Clan so he pitted everyone against Lord Rama and got killed by Lord himself, thus everyone got Moksha (salvation) in the end.

Hope you understand everything now.

Please learn about God and Ponder and reflect more on what God says in different religious scriptures.. which will benefit U and the hateful Society..

His form cannot be seen, no one sees Him with the eye - (Shwetashvatara upanishad 4:20) - Worshiping man made object is a SIN ?

Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires worship DEMIGODS (materialistic - others besides TRUE GOD) - Bhagwad Geeta 7:20

He is body less and pure - Yajurveda 40:8 (Dont worship objects)

They sink DEEPER in DARKNESS those who worship Sambhuti i.e created things\ (Yajurveda 40:9)

Do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine ONE, Praise Him alone - Rigveda 8:1:1)

Worshiping idols is not allowed in hindu scriptures itself...U need to study and ponder on your own scripture.. to recognise and come near to the TRUTH."

AHMED,USA,- I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR YOUR THOUGHTS & WORDS OF WISDOM. We should be tolerant & respect all religions. The god that made EARTH, SUN & MOON and everything is the same. Only the followers are different.
TRUE INDIAN - All Hindus know GOD. Eg. Just like a person can be a FATHER to a child, brother to a sister, SON to Parents, Husband to a women, Friend for someone. Here the person is same only his work and relation with different people will be different. You call him in whatever name you want. Same way the GOD whom you pray and whom Christians or Jews or paresis or Hindus pray are SAME. the way of worshiping him is different. Every one may be right in their own way. So stop arguing and let people follow what their heart says is right. Don't mislead them.

TRUE INDIAN - God has given you Teeth, but i guess you don't bite others. Becoz you know its uses. Same way GOD has given you BRAIN, why don't you USE it.

Killing an animal for FOOD is fine. but killing an animal for fun or in the name of god is a great unpardonable sin.

What the comment below says is that 'there is no image of God' and thats the TRUTH.

Dubai, May 5: Tickets on repatriation flights from UAE to India, which start on May 7, could be costlier than regular airfare, and adding to the financial woes of those flying back. Nearly 200,000 Indians in the UAE have registered on the website seeking to return home.

“A one-way repatriation ticket to Delhi will cost approximately Dh1,400-Dh1,650 - this would earlier have cost between Dh600-Dh700 [during these months],” said Jamal Abdulnazar, CEO of Cozmo Travel. “A one-way repatriation flight ticket to Kerala would cost approximately Dh1,900-Dh2,300.”

This can be quite a burden, as a majority of those taking these flights have either lost their jobs or are sending back their families because of uncertainty on the work front. To now have to pay airfare that is nearly on par with those during peak summer months is quite a blow.

Sources said that officials in Indian diplomatic missions have already initiated calls to some expats, telling them about likely ticket fares and enquiring about their willingness to travel.

Although many believed repatriation would be government-sponsored, Indian authorities have clarified that customers would have to pay for the tickets themselves. Those who thought they were entitled to free repatriation might back out of travel plans for now.

Fact of life

But aviation and travel industry sources say higher rates cannot be escaped since social distancing norms have to be strictly enforced at all times. That would limit the number of passengers on each of these flights.

“One airline can carry only limited passengers - therefore, multiple airlines are likely to get the approval to operate repatriation flights,” said Abdulnazar. “Also, airports will have to maintain safe distance for passengers to queue up at immigration and security counters.

“Therefore, it is recommended that multiple carriers fly into multiple Indian airports for repatriation to be expedited.”

The Indian authorities, so far, have not taken the easy decision to get its private domestic airlines into the rescue act. Gulf News tried speaking to the leading players, but they declined to provide any official statements. So far, only Air India, the national airline, has been commissioned to operate the flights.

Air India finds itself in the driver's seat when it comes to operating India's repatriation flights. To date, there is no confirmation India's private airlines will be allowed to join in.

UAE carriers ready to help out

UAE’s Emirates airline, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia are likely to also operate repatriation flights to India after Air India implements the first phase of services.

“We are fully supporting governments and authorities across the flydubai network with their repatriation efforts, helping them to make arrangements for their citizens to return home,” said a flydubai spokesperson.

“We will announce repatriation flights as and when they are confirmed, recognising this is an evolving situation whilst the flight restrictions remain in place.”

An AirArabia spokesperson said the airline is ready to operate repatriation flights when the government tells them to.

Travel agencies likely to benefit

Apart from operating non-scheduled commercial flights, the Indian government is also deploying naval ships to bring expat Indians back. Sources claim the ships are to ferry passengers who cannot afford the repatriation airfares.

Even then, considering the sheer numbers who will want to get on the flights, travel agencies are likely to see a surge in bookings since airline websites alone may not cope with the demand set off in such a short span.

Learn from Gulf governments

In instances when they carried out their own repatriation flights, some GCC governments paid the ticket fares to fly in their citizens. Those citizens who did not have the ready funds could approach their diplomatic mission and aid would be given on a case-to-case basis.

Should Indians wait for normal services to resume?

Industry sources say that those Indians wanting to fly back and cannot afford the repatriation flights should wait for full services to resume once the COVID-19 pandemic settles.

But can those who lost their jobs or seen steep salary cuts stay on without adding to their costs? And is there any guarantee that when flight services resume, ticket rates would be lower than on the repatriation trips.

As such, normal travel is expected to pick up only after the repatriation exercise to several countries is completed. UAE-based travel agencies are not seeing any bookings for summer, which is traditionally the peak holiday season.

“Majority want to stay put unless full confidence is restored,” said Abdulnazar. “I expect full normalcy to be restored not until March 2021.

“People have also taken a hit to their income. Without disposable income, you will curtail your travel.”

What constitutes normalcy?

Airfares are expected to remain high, given the need to keep the middle seats empty to practise safe distance onboard.

“We expect holiday travel to resume by October or November - but, the travel sentiment will not go back to pre-COVID-19 levels anytime soon,” said Manvendra Roy, Vice-President – Commercial at holidayme, an online travel agency. “The need to keep the middle seat vacant will add 30-40 per cent pricing pressure per seat from an airline perspective.

“This will make holidays more expensive.”

As for business travel, it will take some time to recover. Corporate staff are now used to getting work done via conference calls. “Companies will also curtail their travel expenditure since their income has taken a hit,” said Abdulnazar.

Media Release
March 8,2020

Mangaluru, Mar 8: The Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd., celebrated International Women’s Day with a special seminar on Financial Planning for the banks’ women customers. The programme was held on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. at Hotel Ocean Pearl Inn, Bejai, Mangalore. Dr. Sukanya Rao, academician and financial planner, was the chief guest and resource person for the seminar. Mr. Srinivas C., Karnataka State Head, Future Generali India Insurance Company Ltd., was the guest of honour.  Mrs. Vimala Anchan, Senior Manager and Branch Head of M. G. Road Branch of Saraswat Bank presided over the function.

In her chief guest’s address, Dr. Sukanya Rao defined empowerment of women as the ability of take one’s own decisions and utilize resources. Quoting global rankings, she said India enjoys a high ranking of being 9th in the world in political empowerment of women, whereas in other sectors we stand abysmally low. In social empowerment of women, India ranks at 120th, in economic empowerment at 124th and health and survival at 135th.

She suggested that the best tool for enhancing these empowerment rankings is education, which will lead to earning potential and result in enhancing social status. “Every year spent in school boosts girl’s wages by 10-20%,” she said “When a girl receives 7+ years of education, marriage gets postponed by four years and she has 2.2 less children.” She advised women to learn to take one’s own decisions. “Learn to take decisions, especially financial decisions, on your own instead of depending on significant others to do the decision making,” she said.

She followed up her talk with an interactive session on personal financial planning. She enlightened the audience on factors influencing our financial decision making and gave different perspectives on prioritizing savings, spending and investment.

Srinivas C., Karnataka State Head, Future Generali India Insurance Company Ltd., along with Deepak enlightened the women regarding financial safeguards available under Married Women's Property Act (1874).

Established in 1918, Saraswat Bank was the first co-operative bank to provide merchant banking services after it was recognized as a scheduled bank by RBI in 1988. The bank enjoys high proportion of women employees (nearly 75%) and it is a recipient of Best Cooperative Bank Award in 2016.

Fun games were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners. Bhavanthi Street Branch Head Karthik Shetty welcomed the gathering. Prithvi Pai and Aishwarya rendered the invocation. Naina Shenoy expressed the bank’s Women’s Day greetings. Chilimbi Branch Head Kishore Shetty gave a vote of thanks. Mahesh Nayak compered the programme. Past Branch Head Mamtha Rao was present.

Bengaluru, Jan 2: Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "neglecting" Karnataka ahead of his visit on Thursday, the state Congress questioned why he did not give adequate relief and pay a visit to the state, when most of its parts were affected by severe floods last year.

Modi will begin his two-day visit to the state on Thursday afternoon.

The Congress' Karnataka unit in a series of tweets also questioned the Prime Minister about not conferring the "Bharat Ratna" on Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math, who passed away last year at the age of 111 years.

"Why you did not visit the state, when it was affected by floods? Despite the damage of over Rs 1 lakh crore why you did not declare it as a national disaster? Why you did not give interim relief? When the state government has given a report that the damage caused was to the tune of Rs 35,300 crore why did you sit quiet by giving just Rs 1,200 crore," the state Congress tweeted.

As many as 103 taluks in 22 districts of Karnataka were affected due to unprecedented floods in August, in which over 80 people were killed.

Around seven lakh people were shifted to safe areas during the deluge and thousands of houses were damaged.

In October, various parts of the state faced a deluge for the second time in two months, killing over 13 people and damaging thousands of houses.

Asking as to why the Centre was not giving the state's share of GST amount adequately, the Congress questioned as to why dues under MNREGA programme were not paid so far, and why Karnataka was being neglected while allocating grants.

Questioning Modi as to why he did not visit Tumakuru when Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math passed away, the principal opposition party in the state Assembly, also sought to know why the seer was not conferred with the Bharat Ratna yet.

It also pointed out that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had written a letter in this regard in January 2018.

The Congress has also hit out at the BJP-led Central government over imposition of Hindi language by neglecting regional languages and mother tongue.

The Prime Minister will kickstart his visit to the state by paying tributes to the late pontiff's 'Gadduge' (final resting place) at the Math premises near Tumakuru.

Later, he will attend an event organised to give away Krishi Karman awards and to distribute fishing equipment at the government college ground in Tumakuru, before leaving for Bengaluru where he will be attending a DRDO event.

On Friday he will be inaugurating 107th Indian Science Congress here.
