The Janata Dal (Secular) supremo, who arrived in the city in the morning, visited Shri Durga Parameshwari temple in Kateel and paid obeisance to the deity.

He was welcomed priests Anantha Asranna, Venkatramana Asranna, Harinarayanadas Asranna and others.

Later he also paid a visit to Ullal and offered special prayers at Hazrat Sayyid Shareeful Madani Darga.

Ullal Juma Masjid and Sayyid Madani Darga committee president Abdul Rasheed Haji among others welcomed the former PM.

Interestingly, industrialist B M Farooq, who had contested recent Rajya Sabha polls through JD(S), accompanied Mr Gowda to both the holy places.

It's worth mentioning here that Mr Gowda had promised a prominent post in the party after the Rajya Sabha poll debacle.

He knows that there is no difference between Durga & Darga. Worshiping the dead is shirk (Major sin) which Allah will not forgive. It is just a Money making center & mafia center

Bengaluru, May 12: In a scathing attack on the ruling BJP in Karnataka and warning the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa government against any move to amend the Labour laws and APMC through an ordinance, former chief minister and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday asked Mr Yediyurappa to work in the interest of the people and not to budge under any pressure from the Centre or to please party bosses.

Speaking to media here on Tuesday he questioned the urgency to bring forward such ordinances on important subjects and asked the government to have a public debate on it and also discuss it in the assembly.

“I'm warning the government… I have been watching everything silently till now, I have not caused any embarrassment to the government. I want to tell the government, don’t push us to do it,” Kumaraswamy said

Mangaluru, June 12: Juma prayers were held in dozens of mosques across coastal district of Dakshina Kannada including the city of Mangaluru for the first time in nearly three months upholding all the safety norms including physical distancing.

For the first time in the recent history of Mangaluru, juma prayers were stalled in all the mosques for 11 consecutive weeks as part of nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

While many mosques were reopened for the congregational prayers in the region on June 8 (Monday) after receiving approval from the government, many others are yet to be opened as Muslim religious leaders are taking additional precautionary measures to prevent the spread of covid-19 apart from following all the guidelines issued by the government.

“Around 400 people participated in the Juma prayer at Zeenat Bakhsh Juma Masjid. All the safety guidelines were followed. Sadaqatul Nadwi delivered the sermon and led the prayers,” S M Rasheed Haji, executive member of the mosque committee told coastaldigest.com.

“As per the guidelines, devotees performed Wudu (ablution) at their homes and also carried their own musalla (prayer mat) to the mosque,” said a Jalaluddin, a cleric who offered Juma prayers in Ullal.

The guidelines issued by the government to the mosques also include disinfecting the premises at regular intervals, maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and finishing prayers in “minimum permissible time”.
