Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Bengaluru, Apr 6: Karnataka State Board for Auqaf on Monday suspended mass prayers and visit to the Qabrasthans (graveyards) and dargahs on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on April 9 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"It is hereby directed to all not to hold congregational prayer in the Masjid and the management of the Qabrasthans/Dargahs throughout the State should suspend the visit of public on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on Thursday, April 9," according to a statement here on Monday.

It said, no public shall be allowed to perform religious rituals in the Qabrasthans/Dargahs and all the gates shall be kept closed.

Mangaluru, Mar 4: Fifteen Iranian fishermen, arrested for illegally entering Indian waters, were shifted from Mangaluru to Central Prison Bengaluru at Parappana Agrahara recently.

 On October 21, coast guard officials intercepted two fishing vessels near Gayathri island, about 168 nautical miles off Mangaluru Coast and took into custody 15 crew members after they failed to produce necessary documents.

While one of the boats capsized after developing a technical snag, the other boat was brought to Mangalore Port.

On the basis of a written complaint lodged by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Deputy Commandant Kuldeep Sharma, Karnataka State Coastal Security Police (KSCP) station in Mangaluru filed case against the 15 Iranian fishermen under Maritime Zone of Indian Act 1981.

Kalaburagi, Apr 20: With no COVID-19 case reported here on Sunday, the total number of virus-infected people in the district stood at 22.

While three persons have succumbed to the infection in the district so far, three others have been cured and discharged.

"No COVID-19 case was reported in Kalaburagi district today. Total 22 positive cases and 3 deaths have been reported in the district till date. Three persons have been cured," said District Magistrate B. Sharat.

Karnataka's total count of coronavirus patients has surged to 390, said the State Health Department on Sunday.

"Six new cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 in the State from 5 pm on Saturday till 5 pm on Sunday. Cumulatively, 390 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state," it said.
