RSS workers should be allowed to carry weapons: BJP leader Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru, Oct 18: Former Karnataka minister and senior BJP leader S Suresh Kumar on Monday said RSS workers should be allowed to arm themselves.

RSSAddressing a protest in Shivajina gar against the murder of RSS worker Rudresh R by two motorcycle-borne men, Suresh Kumar said if police are unable to provide protection to RSS workers, they should be allowed to carry weapons.

"The murders of Kuttappa, Praveen Poojari, Raju and Rudresh (all RSS wor kers) make it clear that police are not able to protect them.

We have asked the police commissioner to give us weapon licences if they can't protect our workers," he elaborated later when asked to explain his remark. "We are not victims. We are warriors. We know how to protect ourselves," Suresh Kumar said.

However, the RSS and other senior BJP leaders didn't back his statement.

The former law minister said the government and police have time and again failed to protect RSS workers and the organization is being repeatedly targeted. He claimed state police are under political pressure to not act against the culprits. Senior BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje, who addressed the protest, alleged the killings are part of a conspiracy.

Earlier, the former minister told the protesters a trend similar to that in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where several RSS workers have been killed, is emerging in Karnataka. He demanded police to take measures to ensure Karnataka doesn't become another Kerala.

Distancing itself from Suresh Kumar's statement, sources in the RSS said they have confidence in police and the judiciary, and will continue to stage peaceful protests to get justice in the Rudresh murder case.

Asked about Suresh Kumar's statement on arming RSS workers, former home minister R Ashoka andLok Sabha member PC Mohan said that was their colleague's personal opinion. The issue was neither discussed in party meetings nor is it the party's stand, they added.

Someone was barking before that 60% of the police are from RRSS....
Where are they NOW ... why dont they Protect Your own men even after we citizens pay from our tax money for their jobs.... U cheddis are useless in taking responsibility to protect the society and now they dont even able to protect their own members..

Are the 60% turned their hearts and became good and thought of helping people rather than continuing supporting the cheddi evils... if it is, then it will be good for the people and the society...

Bengaluru, April 3: Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda has written to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stating that he has communicated in writing to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to make arrangements for the passing of vehicles related to medical facilities and essential goods between Mangaluru and Kasargod.

"What made me write this letter is the pain and anguish I experienced when BM Farookhji, the national working president of JDS and K Krishnan Kutty, MLA and a member of your Cabinet and member of JDS, a coalition partner of your government brought to my notice the inhuman and inappropriate action on part of the authorities of Karnataka to block the interstate highway between Mangaluru and Kasargod, bringing the traffic movements between the two states and particularly to Kasargod district having a sizeable population of Kannadigas to a grinding halt," Gowda wrote in the letter.

"I immediately wrote a letter to Yeddiyurappaji, the Chief Minister of Karnataka to make arrangements to permit goods movement and the passage of ambulances and other vehicles for any emergency. But authorities of Karnataka government appears to be very adamant despite the assurance given before the High Court," it added.

Gowda said that the situation is very grim since he learnt that four to five patients died for want of medical facilities since the ambulances ferrying the patients were denied permission to cross the border, to avail treatment from the hospitals at Mangaluru.

He also condemned the Karnataka government for denying access to medical facilities to people in Kerala.

"I very strongly condemn the attitude of the BJP government in Karnataka denying access to people from Kerala to avail medical facilities on emergency and also the movement of essential goods for the survival of the people and deprivation of such emergency services amounts to violation of human rights and opposed to all norms of humanity and humanitarian considerations," the letter read.
Gowda said he will take up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I take this opportunity to assure you that I will take up this issue with the Prime Minister who had assured while imposing 21 days of lockdown that the supply of essential commodities will be maintained and hospital facilities will be kept open round the clock so as to prevent any untoward incident," he stated.

Mumbai, June 7: As the Maharashtra government has given green signal for outdoor physical activities under 'Mission Begin Again' despite amidst growing cases of covid-19,  thousands of Mumbaikars flocked to Marine Drive for 'morning walks' on Sunday.

People were seen wearing masks as a precaution from the novel coronavirus pandemic, however, from the viral photo, it seems that no social distancing norms were followed what so ever.

"Better call it marne waalon ka drive," said a Twitter user. "Still people have no sense of responsibility," said another Twitter user.

After nearly 80 days of lockdown, Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra revved back to life on Friday.

Most markets, market areas, commercial and trading areas - barring malls or market complexes - reopened for business even as Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reiterated that "people should tread cautiously while beginning a 'new life' from today".

Meanwhile, of the total 82,968 cases in Maharashtra, Mumbai now accounts for 47,354 cases and 1,577 deaths.

On Saturday, Maharashtra reported 120 deaths, including 58 in Mumbai, due to COVID-19, taking the overall number of fatalities to 2,969, state Health department said.

The recovery rate in the state stands at 45.06 per cent and the fatality rate at 3.57 per cent, an official statement said.
