Mangaluru, Oct 21: Expressing his strong opposition to the implementation of Uniform Civil Code against the will of crores of Muslims in India, Congress leader and minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader has urged the union government to hold talks with Islamic scholars and experts of Shariah before taking any decision.

Speaking to media persons here, the minister said that the Constitution of India has granted Right to practice the Religion.

“Let those who discuss about triple talaq understand Shariat properly. Let the government discuss the issue with Ulema, scholars and other Islamic leaders before bringing laws against triple talaq,” he said adding that most of the people have misunderstood the concept of talaq in Islam.

There are several procedures under for talaq and three talaqs are not uttered at a stretch on a single day. Hence, let them discuss it properly before bringing law, Khader said.

Fake Aadhaar numbers

On the issue of seeding fake Aadhaar card numbers with ration cards, Mr. Khader said they have found as many as 1.6 lakh cards with fake Aadhaar numbers.

Following seeding of Aadhaar numbers, these card holders have obtained coupons for food grains at the ration shop. Mr. Khader said criminal cases will be filed against the accused, he said.

Subsidised kerosene for fishermen

Mr Khader said that an all-party delegation will be taken to the Union Petroleum Ministry demanding allocation of subsidised kerosene for fishermen using country boats.

He said that presently the State government had been giving fishermen a part of kerosene allocated by the Union government for distribution at the fair price shops in the State.

Each of the 915 registered country boat operators in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are getting 300 litres of kerosene at a subsidised rate per month.

“We have been doing it for many years. There have been instances when the supply from Centre got disrupted and thus causing problems for fishermen. Fishermen had difficulty in operating their boats for nearly a month and it was resolved on Wednesday,” he said.

Mr. Khader said that they planned to take an all-party delegation to Union Minister of State for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan and request a separate allocation of subsidised kerosene for fishermen in the three coastal districts.

Mr. Khader said they are waiting for the appointment of Mr. Pradhan.

According to islam.

Groom has to give dowry and not the bride. But in india it is opposite.

All groom sides are taking advantages.

Triple talaq in one go is not allowed in Islam...

Mangaluru, Apr 3: The laboratory at District Wenlock Hospital has initiated trial for Covid 19 testing, close on the heels of receiving permission from state government.

Doctors, elected representatives and stakeholders had repeatedly demanded that a laboratory should be set up in the port city. Without the lab, the samples were sent either to Shivamogga or to Bengaluru for testing. When Heath Minister Sriramulu had visited Mangaluru on March 17, he had promised a lab in the city for testing of the samples.

Accordingly, the government gave permission for starting the laboratory at Wenlock Hospital. The process of registering the lab with Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) will be completed shortly. The laboratory will be fully operational only after it is registered.

Bengaluru, Feb 9: The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Services Department has kept 138 persons across the state under observation in the wake of novel coronavirus (nCov) scare, a health official said on Saturday.

"We are observing 138 people across the state, including in Bengaluru," the department's Communicable Diseases Wing Joint Director Prakash Kumar told news agency.

Though no coronavirus-positive case has been reported from Karnataka so far, four persons have been admitted in a state hospital under medical observation, Kumar confirmed.

Of the 104 samples sent for testing from the state, 85 have, so far, been declared negative. As many as 130 persons in the state were kept under home-isolation observation.

Four Karnataka districts bordering Kerala — Kodagu, Mangluru, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru — continue to be under surveillance after three positive coronavirus cases were reported in Kerala.

On Saturday, it was reported that three persons from Udupi were isolated at the Ajjarkad Government Hospital. Two of them had travelled to China while the other had returned to Udupi from Japan.

From January 20 till Saturday, 14,153 passengers underwent thermal screening at the Kempegowda International Airport, including three who had a history of visiting China’s Wuhan, the epicenter of the nCoV outbreak.

The '104 Arogya Sahayavani' call centre, which people can call for guidance on coronavirus, has clocked 1,792 calls so far.

"In case people with recent travel history to China and other affected countries develop any symptoms, they are requested to call 104 or health authorities and provide all necessary details in order to take necessary measures and are requested to be quarantined at home," reiterated the department.

Three confirmed cases of coronavirus were earlier reported in Kerala and over 722 deaths were confirmed around the world, mostly in mainland China.

Bengaluru, Jun 23: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday demanded that Bengaluru should be put under lockdown for 20 days to contain the spread of coronavirus, the cases of which have risen sharply recently.

“Stop playing with people's lives. There’s no use in sealing off only some areas. If the people of Bengaluru must live, then a lockdown of at least 20 days is needed. Otherwise, Bengaluru will become another Brazil,” Kumaraswamy said in a tweet. “People’s health is more important, not economy.”

The JD(S) leader was reacting to the BJP government's decision to impose an area-wide lockdown in Chickpet, KR Market, Kalasipalyam and Chamarajpet while streets will be sealed off in VV Puram, Siddapura, Yelahanka, Vidyaranyapura and Chickpet.

Bengaluru has witnessed a huge spike in its Covid-19 tally; the city currently has at least 919 active cases. This has sparked off fears that the contagion might have reached the community.

Kumaraswamy has also demanded welfare measures for the poor. “The poor and the labourers should be given ration immediately. The state’s 50 lakh working class should get ₹5,000 each. The aid already announced by the government hasn’t reached drivers, weavers, Madiwalas and other communities,” he said, adding that mere announcements of a package won’t be enough and “it has to be implemented.”
