Bengaluru, Oct 21: The state government has decided to go ahead with Tipu Jayanthi celebrations on November 10 despite opposition from the Sangh Parivar.
Home Minister G?Parameshwara held a review meeting on Thursday to discuss security arrangements across the state in the run-up to the celebrations. The main event will be organised at Vidhana Soudha by the Department of Kannada and Culture. Tipu Jayanthi programmes will also be held at all taluk and district headquarters.
Mangaluru, Apr 6: Three more COVID-19 positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district have been recovered and discharged on Monday.
All three are Kasargod residents and were being treated in the city’s Wenlock hospital.
A 22-year-old man Bhatkal was discharged on Monday after recovering fully from the infection.
A total of 12 cases have been found COVID-19 positive in Mangaluru till now, said B Rupesh, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate's Office, Dakshina Kannada, on Monday.
"So far, 4 positive cases have recovered in Mangaluru, of which 3 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered and have been discharged today," said Rupesh.
He further said, "A total of 12 positive cases have been reported in the city till now."
As per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed cases in the country is 4281. 151 cases are from Karnataka.
Bengaluru, Jul 31: An ambulance driver was thrashed by the family members of a 75-year-old COVID-19 patient who passed away on his way to the hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The incident happened after the patient died in the ambulance while waiting in front of the MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru.
The driver was dragged out of the ambulance and chased around by a relative.
His clothes were ripped off and harangue were hurled at him. The relative was seen shouting and blaming the driver for the patient's death.
Speaking to news agency, the driver said that he was unable to explain the sequence of the protocol which was to be followed while getting the patient to the treatment ward.
Karnataka is one of the worst-affected states by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has 67,456 active cases as of Friday.
The state government has been struggling to contain the spread of the disease as it has intermittently imposed and eased lockdown measures, especially in the capital Bengaluru.
Udupi, Jun 9: Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary School S Suresh Kumar on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of either postponing or cancelling SSLC exam in the State and it will start from June 25 as scheduled.
Replying to a question, the Minister said that Telangana and Tamil Nadu States might have cancelled the SSLC exam, but Karnataka will not follow them. "Will hold the examination from June 25 to July 4 by taking all care to protect the interests of the Children.
The SSLC exam was originally scheduled for March 27, but was postponed as lockdown was clamped following the spread of killer Coronavirus.
