Mangaluru, 25: Coming down heavily on Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee working president Ibrahim Kodichal for justifying polygamy, the Karnataka state BJP co-spokesperson Sulochana Bhat has urged the Muslim males not to treat women as sex objects.
Mr Kodichal's in a press meet last week had strongly supported Muslim Personal Law and stated that polygamy is far better than prostitution.
Dismissing Mr Kodichal's statement as anti-women, Ms Bhat said that he had portrayed women as mere sex objects while expressing his opposition to the uniform civil code. This is an insult to womanhood, she claimed.
Stating said that there should be a healthy debate on the uniform civil code, Ms Bhat questioning the silence of the Congress leadership in Dakshina Kannada over Mr Kodichal's statement.
Ms Bhat wondered why even former KPCC president B Janardhan Poojary, known for his vocal interventions on such issues against party leaders and cadres, has chosen to be silent.
Claiming that more than 92% of Muslim women respondents sought a ban on this practice in a survey, she said that BJP will stand behind Muslim women who are looking for social equality.

The student-activist, who was allowed to talk on stage, suddenly raised pro-Pakistan slogans. She was arrested by police after All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi snatched her mike.

In Islam polygamy only allowed to those person who has the capacity to look after with justice. Of course, women are not a use & throw item. Do not under estimate polygamy. Dear sisters, very rarely you will find polygamy system followers in Islam. If they do it is their personal matter and better than prostitution.
