10-month-old girl swallows LED bulb when were busy in celebrating Diwali

bulbBengaluru, No 1: A 10-month-old baby girl swallowed an LED bulb with metal electrodes while her parents were arranging electric diyas outside for Diwali their house in Bengaluru.

When the child's mother saw the baby swallowing the bulb, she tried to remove it from her mouth but failed.

The contraption, which was about 5 centimetres long, caused breathing problems for the baby. She was rushed to Columbia Asia referral hospital in Yeshwantpur around 10 p.m.

Sai Prasad T.R., Senior Consultant, Paediatric Surgery, performed an emergency bronchoscopy to remove the contraption from the baby's trachea. “A chest X-ray revealed that the metallic foreign body had got stuck in her trachea.

The wires extended into the right main bronchus. Fortunately, the glass bulb did not break in the wind pipe,” he said, adding that the baby was discharged on Monday morning.

Udupi, Mar 2: The Kundapur police carried out raids at various clubs in Kundapur Sub-division limits and arrested around 50 persons involved in illegal gambling and seized Rs 2.5 lakhs from their possession, the police said on Monday.

According to the police, on Sunday night, based on credible information, the Kudapur Sub-division police led by ASP Hariram Shanker and team raided various clubs in Goliyangadi, Siddapur, Koteswar and Basrur where the accused were found gambling illegally.

All the clubs had taken court permission for recreation but were illegally indulging in gambling. They had also violated the court conditions and were involved in illegal gambling.

Bantwal, Jun 29: Seven SSLC students, who were on their way to write the examination, were injured in a road mishap near Panemangaluru on Monday.

According to sources, the auto-rickshaw in which the students were travelling overturned causing them injuries.

All the injured were students of Shambur Government high school.

Police said the accident took place as the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Bengaluru, Feb 10: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy today got engaged to Revathi, the grand-niece of Congress leader and realtor M Krishnappa.

On February 6, Mr Nikhil shared a picture with Ms Revathi on his official Facebook account.

Mr Nikhil's grandfather and former prime minister of India HD Deve Gowda attended the event along with several other politicians at the Taj West End.

BJP leaders including Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa former chief minister Jagadish Shetter were also present.

Mr Nikhil, 30, is a Kannada film actor who made his debut in the bilingual movie Jaguar in 2016. The actor will soon start shooting for his new movie Production No-1.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he lost to Sumalatha Ambareesh, widow of former Karnataka actor Ambareesh, in the Mandya constituency in Karnataka.
