Dammam: Three months ago construction labourer Bhoomanandan from Telangana met with an accident during work and later succumbed to death. Indian Social Forum (ISF) successfully managed to repatriate the mortal remains to his family after three month long legal ordeal.

The victim was working as painter in a construction site when the tragedy took place. He had earlier absconded from his local sponsor and was working in the kingdom without any legal document. His local sponsor declared him absconding “Huroob” which is a punishable offence in the kingdom and it was nearly impossible for Bhoomanandan to return home without facing imprisonment.

After his death, there were many hurdles to cremate him in the kingdom or to repatriate the body back home. Son of late Bhoomanandan is also employed in the kingdom and approached Indian Social Forum (ISF) Karnataka chapter for help in his legal struggle

ISF held a series of discussion with local sponsor of Bhoomanandan and convinced him to withdraw ‘Huroob” or absconding case only after the sponsor was satisfied by the team he agreed to revert the absconding case registered against Bhavannada and was ready to provide all legal documentation which helped in clearing the legal procedures.

ISF also coordinated and cleared all required documents from Hospital, Local Police authorities, Indian Embassy; Documents needed from India and required documentation by airlines to shift the body.

Mortal remains of Bhoomanandan were cremated according to Hindu rituals at his home town. Dammam Central Hospital Management helped ISF in getting discount in Hospital bills. ISF also thanked airline staff, Indian Embassy and district administration back home for assisting and guiding us.

Members of ISF community development wing Mohammed Shamsuddin,Ibrahim Krishnapura, Zakriya, Abdul Khadar Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Naushad katipala successfully completed the task.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.
