Delhi Police Head Constable shoots self at Supreme Court

New Delhi, Jan 2: A Delhi Police head constable posted at the Supreme Court today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in court premises.

suicide 9The deceased, identified as head constable Chandpal, shot himself around 8.15 AM, said a senior police officer.

His duty hours were from 7 AM to 1 PM. He had been posted at the Supreme Court since April 2014.

The cause of the suicide was not known yet, the officer said, adding crime and forensic teams were on the spot.

Police will be questioning Chandpal's family members and colleagues to ascertain the reasons for him taking the extreme step.

this might be due to demonetisation as he might be facing shortage of amount to take care of his family.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

Thane, Jul 19: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his wife after picking up a fight as he did not like the food she cooked, Thane police said.

Sachin Godane, a resident of Gaikwad Pada in Ambernath, locked his two children and an aunt in one room of the house on Friday afternoon and brutally beat up his wife Chandrakala (28) with a log and then strangled her, said Assistant Inspector JB Bhoyer of Shivajinagar police station.

Godane has been remanded in police custody for four days, he added.

Bengaluru, Feb 5: City Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru City have arrested two drug peddlers from Kerala and have seized banned products from their possession.

According to officials the arrested persons have been identified as Shinto Thomas (35) of Wayanad and Tajudden Talat (29) of Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have seized 4 kg 350 grams of Hashish oil, 21.5 kgs of Ganja, Rs. 9300 cash, two mobile phones, two ganja crushing tools, and 625 empty boxes and other articles from them", police said in a statement.
