Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

For details, players may contact Srikanth Rai (ph: 9845202879) or KSCA Mangalore Zone office, stated a press release.

Kundapur, Apr 28: The local police have arrested two people for threatening and preventing an Associated Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers from discharging their duties during the lockdown.

Police said on Tuesday that the arrested are Sandeep Mesta and Mahesh Kharvi.

According to official sources, the health officials had put Sandeep under quarantine for 28 days.

However, he was seen wandering in the streets and ASHA worker C Laxmi warned him to stay indoors.

Irked by the warning Sandeep, along with his friend Mahesh Kharvi waylaid her and threatened to kill for objecting his movement.

Mangaluru, May 30: Coastal district of Dakshina Kannada today recorded third covid-19 death as a 67-year-old woman from Bantwal taluk succumbed to the coronavirus at the district Wenlock Hospital, the designated Covid hospital.

The victim is said to be a neighbor of two women (daughter-in-law and mother-in-law) who died of the coronavirus a few days ago. 

On April 18 due to difficulties in breathing, she was rushed to Wenlock Hospital, where she was tested positive for coronavirus. Initially she responded to treatment. However, her condition started worsening earlier this week and breathed her last today evening.

Her daughter also has been tested positive for the deadly virus and she is currently undergoing treatment.

Mangaluru, Jan 18: The Dakshina Kannada District Karavali Utsava Samiti has chosen senior Journalist and Assistant Editor on Udayavani Daily Manohar Prasad for the Karavali Gaurava Prashasti 2019-20.

The award will be presented to Manohar Prasad in recognition of his contribution in the field of Journalism.

He will be given the award during the valedictory of the Karavali Utsav at Panambur beach on January 19.
