New Delhi, Feb 4: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl who mistakenly reached here from Chhattisgarh after boarding a wrong train was kidnapped, raped and sold to a person with the help of a woman before being rescued by Delhi Commission for Women.crime

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the trafficking of the girl who was rescued from an area near Humayun's tomb yesterday.

The girl was travelling in a train in Chhattisgarh in October to visit her relatives, but mistakenly boarded a wrong train and reached Delhi. At railway station, she met one Arman, who was selling water bottles, said a senior police officer. He took her to Sarai Kale Khan and raped her with the help of his wife Hasheena, he said.

The couple then sold her for Rs 70,000 to one Pappu Yadav so that he could marry the minor, he said.

"She was living in Faridabad for close to two months with Pappu who physically and mentally tortured her. She then somehow left his house and reached Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station where Hasheena met her and gave her a spiked drink," he added.

When she fell semi-conscious, Hasheena handed her over to one Mohammad Afroz, 22. "He raped her near the railway station and paid the sum to Hasheena. The victim somehow managed to escape and was noticed by a passerby who made a PCR call," said the officer.

She was rescued and a case under sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 376 (Punishment for rape), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, with intent to commit an offence), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and 4 POCSO Act has been registered at Sunlight Colony police station.

She is undergoing counselling after being examined at AIIMS. "After several raids in Sarai Kale Khan and Faridabad, Mohammad Afroz and Pappu Yadav have been arrested. Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused," he said.

Police is also adding sections under Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 based on the facts that have emerged in the case so far.

New Delhi, Jan 6: A blind student who is pursuing research in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was also attacked by the mob that perpetrated violence in the University yesterday.

"I thought that the mob which came yesterday would disperse after raising a few slogans but they indulged in violence. They were targeting ABVP students. They beat me with sticks and rods. When I went to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, I came to know that there are many other injured students there," Surya Prakash, the blind student pursuing research in the University told ANI.

"I talked to my family members. They are really worried about the situation here. I qualified in the National Eligibility Test (NET) last year but I want to study and hence I am continuing research in JNU. How can we do anything in this atmosphere of fear? I am receiving calls from anonymous numbers threatening me not to come in front of the media. They are saying that as I am blind, I would become the face of this case," he added.

Another PhD student, Santosh Bhagat recounted his experience.

"In the evening at around 7 pm, many masked men entered the hostel. They had rods and sticks in their hands. We tried to go out but the attackers had entered the premises by then. I locked my room from inside but the attackers broke the door and entered my room and attacked me. They pushed me from the first floor and I fell down and sustained an injury. Later, I took shelter at one of the Professor's flat. Later, I was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Cantre," Bhagat said.

On Sunday evening, more than 30 students of the university, including JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh, were injured and were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered the JNU and attacked them and professors with sticks and rods.

The JNU administration and political leaders, cutting across political lines, condemned the attack on students and urged the police to take action against the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the situation remained tense but peaceful outside JNU on Monday morning as the university guards maintained a strict vigil at the gate, checking I-cards of all those entering the university.
