Dakshina Kannada district police on Sunday night raided the house of Satyajit Surathkal, State secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party Backward Classes Morcha, after receiving information on his involvement in the alleged attempt to create communal riot when the funeral procession reached BC Road on Saturday.

However, Satyajit was not there in the house during the time of the raid, sources said. Condemning the raid, Hindu Jagarana Vedike said the police trooped into Satyajit’s house and misbehaved with family members.

Superintendent of Police C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy confirmed that the police has conducted raid at a few places in Surathkal in search of those who were allegedly involved in stone throwing incident. “We could not find them,” he said, not disclosing the names of the suspects.

At least two persons suffered injuries and several vehicles were damaged due to the stone pelting in BC Road on Saturday. The police have already arrested 13 persons and took 25 others into custody following the incident. The police are now trying to find out the mastermind behind the clashes.

Sharat Madivala, a 28-year-old RSS activist was stabbed by unidentified miscreants in BC Road on July 4. He breathed his last at a hospital in Mangaluru on July 7. Sangh Parivar activists took his mortal remains to his home town Sajipa Munnir in Bantwal taluk through a procession ignoring prohibitory orders.

It is worth mentioning here that several suspected Hindutva activists were caught on camera collecting stones on road during the procession.

POLICE are the main link between incidents of lynching and merciless killing of innocent muslims across INDIA . so we must reform POLICE system ....at first we must push out 60% who are anti national's supporters ...next step is to train those who are unaware of RSS cruelty and barbarism ....and to train them the way to tackle to handle the chaddi and mind

Bengaluru, Mar 12: The Karnataka government on Wednesday clarified that no coronavirus "emergency" has been declared in the state and that all the schools and offices will remain open.

Earlier, there were fake reports that Karnataka has declared "coronavirus as an epidemic" in the state.

In a statement, Karnataka health commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey refuted the reports doing rounds on social media which said Karnataka had declared COVID-19 as a "state epidemic".

Refuting the rumours, he added that all the schools, offices and other institutions will continue to function normally in the state.

The Karnataka government earlier today issued temporary regulation which asked all government and private hospitals to have flu corners for screening of suspected cases of COVID-19.

According to the regulation, no person/institution shall use print or electronic media to spread mis-information on COVID-19 without prior permission of the department of health & family welfare. If a person is found indulging in any such activity, they will be punished, it said.

The Karnataka government also started a campaign called 'Namaste over Handshake' that encourages people to greet in the traditional Indian style, to tackle the spread of the virus.

The state has reported four positive cases of coronavirus so far.

India, so far, has 60 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 16 Italians tourists.

Kozhikode, Jun 14: A mosque in Kuttichira of Kozhikode has found a unique way to avoid crowding amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The committee that runs the mosque has started issuing smart cards to people for offering prayers and simultaneously encouraging social distancing.

"The committee has given smart cards with numbers to the people in the surroundings of the Masjid. One who enters the mosque premises has to rub their hands with sanitizers. They also have to tell their identity on camera. The automatic system has been put in place to save the address and phone number. Next time onwards they have to say their smart card number only so that other details will be automatically filled," said Muhammad Sajjad, who is part of the Mosque committee.

"The door of the mosque will open automatically after swiping the card. We have fit in a sensor on the doors. We have also made marks inside the mosque area so that people can abide by social distancing norm," he added.

A couple of days back the Kerala government has rolled out an order allowing the opening of places of worship, malls and restaurants from June 9 in strict accordance with guidelines and social distancing norms. As per the guidelines, pregnant women and those with co-morbidities should not visit any places of worship. Those with symptoms should not be allowed.
