8 yrs after Vamanjoor Rohi’s murder, his son Pavan Raj hacked to death

Mangaluru, Jul 25: Pavan Raj Shetty (23), son of murdered rowdy-sheeter Vamanjoor Rohi, was found murdered on Tuesday morning on the outskirts of the city.

According to sources, Pavan and a few miscreants were consuming ganja at a deserted house in Vamanjoor last night. It is believed that Pavan was attacked with lethal weapons by the miscreants during a fight between.

A resident of Kattipalke village near Vamanjoor, Shetty, had recently walked out of jail on bail. Pavan was also a rowdy-sheeter and involved in several criminal cases including theft, attempt to murder.

His father Vamanjoor Rohi alias Vamanjoor Rohidas Shetty was murdered by rival gang members on July 5 in 2009. More details are awaited.

Bengaluru, Apr 19: As many as 25 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the State till now, said Karnataka's Health Department.

"25 new COVID-19 cases reported in the State from 5 pm Friday to 5 pm on Saturday. The total number of positive cases in the State is 384 including 14 deaths and 104 discharges," added the Health Department.

The Health Department has appealed to the doctors, who are willing to volunteer in the fight against coronavirus, to reach out to the government.

A total of 14,378 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the country so far, with 480 deaths being reported due to the virus.

Belagavi, Mar 14: After the first COVID-19 related death reported in the state, less number of people are travelling in North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) buses, official sources said here.

There were less number of travellers on Saturday as compared to any other day.

According to sources, many passengers cancelled their reservations to major cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Goa and Kalaburagi too.

Bengaluru, Mar 6: PVR Cinemas on Friday launched its five-screen multiplex in here, augmenting its presence in Karnataka across 15 properties to 103 screens and to 46 properties and 286 screens in southern India.

With this opening, PVR consolidates its growth momentum in the current financial year 2019-20, so far opening 83 screens in the year and bringing its portfolio to 841 screens at 176 properties in 71 cities.

"We feel proud to cross the 100 screens milestone in the state of Karnataka at the very beginning of the year," said Joint Managing Director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli.

"Southern India has a strong market with significant growth potential. In Bengaluru, we have introduced some of our best formats and offerings owing to the nature of preferences by our customers," he said in a statement.
