Lucknow, Aug 16: The Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating stern action against 'madrasas' (Islamic Seminaries), where the national anthem was not sung during the Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday in defiance of its directives.

According to the sources here on Tuesday, the government has taken a strong view of the reports that national anthem had not been sung at many 'madrasas', especially those owing allegiance to the Barelvi school of Islamic thought.

''We have received complaints from various quarters that national anthem was not sung at several madrasas,'' said a senior official of the education department here.

The education department would also conduct a probe into the complaints, he said.

''We have asked the complainants to furnish proof in support of their allegation,'' the official said adding that stern action would be taken against the erring madrasas.

Sources said that Tricolour was unfurled at the madrasas but the students did not sing the national anthem despite being made mandatory by the Yogi Adityanath government.

Reports said that instead of the national anthem, the students of the 'madrasas' sang 'sare Jahan seAchha Hindostan Hamara', penned by the famous Urdu poet Mohammed Iqbal.

The managers of these madrasas also did not conduct video recording of the I-Day celebrations, which had also been made mandatory by the state government.

The managers defended their decision not to sing national anthem saying that some of the lines in it were not in accordance with the tenets of Islam.

The clerics owing allegiance to the Barelvi sect had earlier made it clear that neither National Anthem nor ‘Vande Mataram’ would be sung in the ‘Madarsas’ affiliated with them.

The state government had, in a circular issued to all the 'madrasas', directed them to unfurl the Tricolour followed by the recital of the national anthem and national song. The government also directed the ‘madarsas’ to conduct videography of the entire program and submit the video and pictures to the concerned government official.

He in imposing his thought by force. The constitution does not allow anyone to force to do so (to sing).

The meanings in those songs are against islamic teachings which is contracdicting Oneness of God.

Islam forbids to worship the concept of  multiple God. This type of worship is UNFORGIVABLE BIGGEST SIN.

Unfortunately Hindus also say 1God but worshipping crores of Gods, which does not make any sense.

Islam condemns such imposition on Muslims by any one,  whoever tries to impose his own ideas.

Muslims will not allow anyone to force them to follow their faiths. They will not succeed in doing it.  If trying to impose they have to PAY DEARLY.

As many as employees of Zee News have tested positive for the coronavirus, Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhary said on Monday. Most of them are asymptomatic, he said, tweeting an official statement from Zee News about the situation.

The organisation said that on May 15, one of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus. Following this, the company started testing employees who may have come in contact with the employee. Twenty-seven more were found to be infected.

“Fortunately most of them are asymptomatic and are not complaining of any discomfort,” Zee News said. “We believe this is because of early diagnosis and proactive intervention.”

The news network said all guidelines and protocols have been followed, and its office, newsroom and studios have been sealed for sanitisation. The Zee News team has been shifted to an alternative facility.

“At the moment, Zee Media Corporation has 2,500 employees, by far the largest in the private sector,” the company said. “We are committed to the safety of each one of them.”

Chaudhary also claimed that “those who are infected had the option of sitting at home and sharing memes”. “They came to work because they are committed professionals.”

Following this, some social media users claimed that Zee News employees found infected with Covid-19 were still at work. In response, Chaudhary alleged that a malicious campaign was being conducted to distort his statement. He said no infected employee had come to work, and all the contacts of the employee who tested positive on May 15 had been tested and quarantined.

Over the past two months, journalists from several media organisations have tested positive for the coronavirus. On April 21, 26 employees of a Tamil news channel based in Chennai tested positive for the coronavirus. The previous day, over 50 journalists from Mumbai were found infected, after samples of over 170 journalists were tested.

On May 7, a newspaper journalist died of the coronavirus in Agra. Some states, such as Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Delhi, have tested journalists for Covid-19.

New Delhi, Feb 11: As the counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly polls began, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday raised doubts on EVMs, alleging that no machine having a chip is tamper-proof.

He called upon the Election Commission and the Supreme Court to take a fresh look at the use of EVMs in the country.

"No machine (which) has a chip is tamper-proof. Also please do for a moment think, why no developed country uses EVM," Singh said in a tweet.

"Would CEC and Hon Supreme Court please have a fresh look on EVM voting in India? We are the largest democracy in the world, we can't allow some unscrupulous people to hack results and steal the mandate of 1.3 billion people.

"If they match the votes in the counting unit. Declare the result. If they don't match then count the ballots of all polling booths in the assembly. It would convince everyone and save time also as this has been the consistent argument of CEC in favour of EVM," the Congress leader said.

Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly polls was held on Saturday.

The Election Commission on Sunday announced that the final voter turnout was 62.59 per cent, five per cent less than 2015.

Ahmedabad, Mar 15: Four Congress MLAs in Gujarat have tendered their resignation to Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi ahead of the election to the four Rajya Sabha seats in the state to be held on March 26.

The four Congress legislators tendered their resignation on Saturday, which Trivedi has accepted.

Trivedi told this to PTI on Sunday.

He said he will announce the names of the legislators in the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

"Four Congress MLAs tendered their resignation to me on Saturday, and I will announce their names in the Assembly tomorrow," he said.

With this, the strength of the Congress party in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly has come down to 69 from 73.

The Congress had on Saturday shifted its 14 MLAs to Jaipur fearing horse-trading by the ruling BJP ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls.

The BJP has fielded Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramila Bara and Narhari Amin for the election.

Given its number in the Assembly, the ruling party can only win two seats unless it manages cross-voting from the opposition camp or ensures defection of Congress MLAs to win the third seat.

The Congress has fielded senior leaders Shaktisinh Gohil and Bharatsinh Solanki.
