Cops arrest 3 more in RSS activist Sharath murder case

Mangaluru, Aug 16: The Dakshina Kannada police have arretsed three more persons in connection with the murder of RSS activist Sharath Madivala on Wednesday. This takes the number of arrests made in this case to five.

The arrested are Riyaz Paranki, Sadiq Nelyadi and Kaleem alias Kaleemullah. Superintendent of police said they will be produced before the court on Thursday and seek their custody for interrogation.

On Tuesday, police had arrested Abdul Shafi, 36, son of late Monu, Indira Nagar House, Haladi, Sajipa Munnur and Khaleelulla, 30, son of Noorula Khan, Galipura village, Chamarajnagar. Khaleelulla is a leader of Popular Front of India unit in Chamarajanagar, police said.

Sharath, 28, a resident of Sajipa in Bantwal taluk, was attacked by unidentified miscreants on July 4. He succumbed to injuries three days later. A stone pelting incident was reported during his funeral and several leaders of right-wing organisation and others were arrested.

Udupi, May 20: All the six fishermen were rescued from a deep-sea fishing boat, which capsized after hitting a rock near Malpe here yesterday. 

The boat was owned by Reshma Kharvi. The incident occurred while the boat was returning after fishing to Malpe harbor. 

The helmsman lost control over the boat after steering got damaged and hit the rock and damaged. 

The crew of another boat which was near to the sinking boat immediately rushed and rescued six fishermen.

Attempts to rescue the sinking boat using the yet another boat could not materialise. 

The loss is said to be about Rs 80 lakh, including Rs. 5 lakh worth items, including fish, net, and other accessories. The boat ventured from Malpe port on May 14.

In the wake of Saudi Arabia's assurance that Masjid al-Haram of Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi of Madinah will be opened for believers after some days, a message has gone viral on social media claiming that both the holy mosques will open on Ramadan 8 (May 1).

The message which was widely circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp, also contained certain condition such as people should fetch their own prayer mats and that they should not use the washrooms in the mosques. 

Clarification

Meanwhile, the authorities of the two holy mosques, issued a clarification that the claims made in the viral post are false and baseless.

"The message being circulated about the opening date for Haramiain (two holy mosques) for public is completely baseless and false. The suspension of prayers for general public is still in effect," they said in a social media post.
