Hubballi, Aug 28: Good times have begun for Hubballi's businessman Hanumantha Reddy as he purchased two cars belonging to liquor baron Vijay Mallya, at Rs 1.58 lakh through an online auction. The original cost of those cars were Rs 53 lakh, when Vijay Mallya purchased them years ago.

He paid Rs 40,000 for a 2002 Hyundai Sonata (MH 01 DA 7227), while the 2003 Hyundai Acord 2.4 AT (MH 01 DA 1235) was purchased at Rs one lakh. Remaining amount was paid as taxes.

The two cars were put on online auctioning by United Spirits Company in January after the liquor baron failed to repay the loans taken from various banks. Hanumantha, who has a hobby of collecting second hand cars, bid for the car online purchased it in May. Now they have been delivered to him. While one of the cars came from Bengaluru, the second car was delivered to him from Mumbai.

Both the cars are said to be in good condition, and with news of him purchasing Mallya's car spreading like a wildfire in the city, there has been a demand for those cars now. “People are asking me to resell those cars and they are ready to pay higher price than what I paid for them,” he said.

He said people are ready to pay Rs 2.5 lakh for the Hyundai Sonata, which is golden colour and the second car is currently fetching him Rs 4.5 lakh. However, he has not yet made up his mind to sell these cars.

Ideally the proceeds should go to the banks.

Bidding for his villa is different from bidding for his cars - People will think in a different way to buy a villa if priced low and not even 10 % of the loan can be recovered

When the Owners of such Fleet of Cars is the infamous Mallya how come such demands for Cars at such exorbitant Prices are placed and Villa and other Estate NO ONE is coming ahead to bid ???How come such Money is collected /pocketed by some one other than Banks ??Courts MUST direct such Money collected to repay the outstanding Debts of the Owners and NEVER be pocketed as PRIZE for some other Owner

Though no deaths were reported in the Zoo or on lake premises, the staff continue to maintain a strict vigil on open water sources like lakes. He said the Park was being sanitized.

Mangaluru, June 21: A gang of miscreants intercepted a goods auto-rickshaw which was legally transporting beef from an abattoir to market and attacked its driver in heart of the city this morning.

The attack comes exactly a week after a gang of Bajrang Dal miscreants thrashed a cattle trader at Urwa while legally transporting four buffalos to Kudroli abattoir on June 13.

Today, a person identified as Abdul Rasheed was transporting around 200 kilograms of beef from Kudroli abattoir to Kankanady market.

Meanwhile, miscreants began to chase beef laden vehicle and managed to waylay it near Highland Hospital. They thrashed Abdul Rasheed and poured kerosene on the beef besides damaging the vehicle.

The miscreants fled in their car and motorbikes after passersby began to gather.

Dear DC Dr. Harsha, we want to know if you will take strict action on these anti nationals / rowdis / day robbers / terrorists who ransacked auto + beaten the auto driwer and stolen Rs. 10,000 from him though he was legally transporting the meat.   They same terrorists are involved in transporting live animals to beef export houses in Gujrat owned by Brahmins / Jains.   Will you be loyal to your duty and promise.   We will see how you will handle the issue failing which you will lose our respect and we will consider you as a dramabaz and phenku.   You should follow the law and treat everyone equally.  There should not be any pity on goondas/ terrorists belonging to sangh parivar.   The terrorists who thrashed the auto driver and damaged the auto and burnt the meat by pouring kerosene are not human beings and should be treated as anti nationals + terrorists.    We hope you will discharge your duty as per the oath taken by you while accepting your post.

Moon sighting for the start of the month of Ramazan, for end of fastings- Eidul Fitr, for the month of Hajj and Muharram:

The moon sighting is so easy. We the people of India and have Indian Standard Time all.over India.

When we can accept the moon sighting in Delhi and announcement from Delhi as it was during times of Radio and Doordarshan news, why can we not accept the sighting of moon in coastal region of Karnataka and in Kerala?

Let us bring about change for good.

Why is rest of Karnataka or India not joining for Eid with coastal region and kerala? At the time of Radio and Dorrdarshan only days, all of India used to wait for 8.00 pm news for updates of moon sighting. So why not accept the moon signing witnesses in Kerala or coastal region?

I request all Indians to accept the witnessing of Moon sighting in any area of India and start and end Fasting.
