Kasaragod, Sept 11: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has asked the Kerala Police for the details of conversion of people from different faiths to Islam at Therbiyathul Islam Sabha in Kozhikode, a religious centre authorized by the Kerala government.

In a status report filed before the Supreme Court, the NIA said it had sought information on the activities of the Kozhikode-based organisation.

It was at this Islamic centre that Akhila Asokan alias Hadiya, a 25-year-old Hindu girl, converted to Islam and later married a Muslim man.

Her parents moved the Kerala High Court alleging that she was radicalised and converted to Islam and forcibly married to a Muslim. The court annulled the marriage and Akhila’s husband Shafin Jahan moved the SC, which asked the NIA to investigate the ‘love jihad’ case.

The NIA, in its report, also said it had examined several records of the Kerala police and there seemed to be an “organised effort” in the conversion. The probe agency had not been able to question the woman even once. She continues to live under “house arrest”. Hadiya is a homeopath.

The NIA said, “During the investigation of Crime No 21/2016 of Perinthalmanna police station, Kerala Police has recorded the statement of detenue Hadiya, after she was sent to her parents by Hon’ble High Court of Kerala on May 24, 2017.

Hadiya has been consistently maintaining that she had decided to convert to Islam on her own and Sainaba and her friends had assisted her in the process and in her subsequent marriage with Shafin Jahan, on her request.

Retired SC judge R.V. Raveendran who was asked by the SC to supervise the investigation has recused himself from the case.

When people recognize the TRUTH of ONE GOD worship, they accept ISLAM its as simple as this.. There is no need to have any investigation.

If God says Alcohol is Prohibited - You should verify the house who has a drunkard,  and how is his health and what is his relationship with his family.

If God says Pork is prohibited - You should verify How bacteria in Pork are harming human intestines.

If Prophet of God said Dont get Angry - You should verify and see the result after your family members gets angry.

If Prophet of God said have patience - You should verify and notice yourself how Your heart felt contemplate.

If God is telling you to use your intellect - You should verify why VEDAS says (NA TASYA PRATIMA ASTI) There is no image of God.

Mangalore, May 2: More than 500 families received ration kits in a distribution drive conducted by St Agnes College in outskirts of Mangaluru on Wednesday.

Since the lockdown was announced, the management, staff and alumni of St Agnes College are playing an active role in ensuring no one is deprived of food and essentials during these challenging pandemic times.

The College as part of its Agnes towards Community (ATC) programme had adopted villages such as Munnur, Harekala, Amlamogaru, Someshwara and Pavur. Various development drives are conducted in these villages by the staff and students. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the activities undertaken in these villages were kept on hold.

The College recently received information from its network that several families in these villages are struggling for food and essentials.

The College management in association with its alumni and well-wishers took-up the initiative to distribute ration kits consisting of rice, dal, spices, tea powder, hygiene products and other essentials to 500 needy families belonging to these villages.

The drive was held in presence of Zilla Panchayat member Dhanalakshmi Gatty and other Gram Panchayat members.

"We were able to provide food to 600 and more families in different villages and to the stranded migrant workers in the city during this time of crisis because of the generous contributions of our staff, alumni and well wishes" says Sr Dr. M. Jeswina A.C.

The College management expresses its gratitude to all donors, especially the staff, alumni and those associated with the college.

Bengaluru, Jan 23: City civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) levied a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for using single-use plastic cups during the recent India-Australia one-day international match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

"Despite many awareness meetings, BBMP has found that single-use plastic cups were used during yesterday's cricket match and has fined KSCA Rs 50,000 as penalty," tweeted the civic body commissioner BH Anil Kumar.

The state cricket association treasurer Vinaya Mruthyunjaya said the civic body gave a general notice without detailed information on plastic use.

"We have been environmentally friendly for the last many years and at all gates, security has made sure no plastic or flex was allowed inside the stadium," Mruthyunjaya told media.

Mruthyunjaya said KSCA sought information from the civic body as to where the single-use plastic cups were found in the stadium during the India-Australia match.

On January 16, KSCA president Roger Binny inaugurated a plastic bottle shredder at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in addition to other green initiatives at the cricket ground such as solar panels, sub-air system, biogas unit, rainwater harvesting and others.

Similarly, in December 2019, BBMP cracked down on popular fast food eatery – Adyar Anand Bhavan in HSR Layout and fined the establishment Rs 1 lakh for plastic use.

In October, the BBMP fined eateries including McDonald's in central Bengaluru for using plastic.
