Mangaluru youth dies in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Sept 19: A young expatriate worker hailing from Natekal Urumani village on the outskirts of South Indian port city of Mangaluru, died of heart attack in Saudi Arabia.

Mohammad Ashraf (38) was buried at Naseem grave yard at Gornata in Riyadh region with the assistance of Karnataka Cultural Foundation after receiving consent from the family members.

He was working at a supermarket in Gornata for past few years. He suffered a massive heart attack in the wee hours of Sunday within a couple of hours after he slept in his room after his night shift.

He had got married during his last visit to Mangaluru a year ago. He was supposed to return home on a vacation on October 6.

Kundapur, Apr 13: The city police, burdened with the enforcement of COVID-19 lockdown decided to undertake door delivery of essential items to ensure people remained indoor, official sources said here on Monday.

According to them, the police would be delivering items to the houses in Kumdapur, Byndoor, Gongolli, Shankara Narayana, Kundapur Rural, Kota and Amavasebail.

The police will start spreading awareness with this regard for three days starting from today (April 13).

Udupi, Jun 1: As many as 73 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today.

The district has registered a total of 260 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Bengaluru, April 6: The total number of positive cases in Karnataka climbed to 163 after 12 more cases were reported, state government officials said on Monday.

Out of the 12 new cases, three of them have a history of travelling to Delhi.

The tally includes four deaths and 18 people have recovered and discharged.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India crossed the 4,000 mark, mounting to 4,067, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
