Muhammad Mubeen receives PhD from Manipal University

Manipal, Oct 2: Muhammad Mubeen, a researcher from the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical sciences, has been awarded PhD degree from Manipal University.

Mubeen received the doctorate for his thesis titled ‘'design, synthesis and anticancer activity of novel heterocyclic compounds as epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors'’ 

The PhD was completed under the guidance of Prof. Dr Suvarna G Kini, Pharamaceutical Chemistry department and Prof. Dr K Sreedhara R Pai, head of department of Pharmacology.

Mubeen is the son of P.Abbas and Amina from Ullal, currently he is working as a professor in Karavali College of Pharmacy in Mangaluru.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: A total of 4,764 new COVID-19 cases and 55 deaths were reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 2,050 cases were reported in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases stands at 47,069, said the state Health Department.

Death toll rises to 1,519 in the state.

Bengaluru, Mar 21: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Saturday said that all the IT companies in the state have agreed to close their offices and have also allowed some employees to work from home in the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.

"IT companies agreed to close their offices and allow employees, except for those discharging essential services, to work from home during a video conference with companies' representatives yesterday," said Narayan.

The Deputy Chief Minister said a circular regarding it will be issued soon.

Bengaluru, Jun 9: A 42-year-old founding director of an engineering consultancy firm lost Rs 65,000 to online fraudsters who posed as representatives of a mobile service provider and lured him with the offer of a fancy number recently.

Asif (name changed) received a text message on May 19, informing him that a platinum number, 9099999999, was available and interested people could dial a mobile number to avail it.

“Asif, who runs a mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering consultancy near Shivajinagar, decided to get the fancy mobile number. He called the number and the receiver said they would generate an invoice for his request. After a fake invoice for Rs 64,900 was generated, Asif paid the money through online transaction that day. Asif waited for two weeks for the SIM card with the fancy number to reach him,” an officer said.

East CEN Crime police registered a case of cheating under section 420 of IPC and sections under the Information Technology Act after Asif lodged a complaint on June 6.
