Bengaluru, Oct 16: Kannada will now be taught either as first language or second language between Class I and X in all schools across the state.

The government has issued an order in this regard, covering Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools and schools following the state syllabus in English medium.

The order follows the Kannada Language Learning Act, 2015, the guidelines of which the government has finalised.

Kannada syllabus for Class I will be applicable to outside students seeking admission between Classes II and VIII.

In case of students seeking admission to class III and above, teachers should teach Kannada syllabus of Class I for one year.

In the subsequent year, those students will have to study the Kannada syllabus prescribed for their class along with their classmates.

Karnataka Secondary Education Board has been directed to frame syllabus for students from outside the state directly joining Classes IX and X.

The government has constituted competent authorities to take action against managements that fail to implement the government order.

They are also empowered to visit schools for inspection and initiate disciplinary action.

Circulars will be issued to all schools regarding the order.

Block Education Officers have been directed to prepare a report of schools in their limits regarding the implementation of the order. They have been directed to submit the report to competent authorities through deputy director’s offices.

If someone has no use of Kannada, why should the language be forced on him or her to learn ? Like Army employees children.

First enroll K.J. George, Tanvir Sait and all those ministers who are bad in Kannada. Not only speaking but also reading & writing. Many ministers Kannada speaking style is so bad, they speak horrible Kannada. Teach them good and decent Kannada first. Many minister and Government officials speak Telugu better than Kannada. You go anywhere, you will see Telugu speakers in Vidhan Souda also. This is the state of Kannada. Our loving Kannada. Our mother Kannada.

Belagavi, Jan 17: Maharashtra Minister of State for Public Health, Medical Education, FDA and Textiles Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar who had come here to participate in the martyrs day programme of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) was detained by the police and escorted back till the state borders on Friday.

MES had organised its annual martyrs day programme at Hutatma Circle here. Its leaders had earlier been asked by the District Administration and City Police to ensure that none of the political leaders from Maharashtra participate and create law and order problems by their anti-state statements.

Patil had managed to sneak into the city through a route which was not manned by the police. He came in an auto-rickshaw to the programme venue.

Police personnel present for security took him into their custody and later escorted him till the state’s borders with Maharashtra at Kognoli on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway.

MES leaders alleged that the police personnel violated protocol while taking the incumbent minister into their custody and they also roughed him up.

All vehicles entering the city from different routes and particularly from Maharashtra were screened to confirm that political leaders from the neighbouring state do not participate in the martyrs day programme and create problems by their statements that also affect law and order along with linguistic harmony.

It was not known if Patil had landed in the city on Thursday and managed to reach the programme venue without getting noticed by using an auto-rickshaw.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: Several ministers staying at the Bengaluru resort had been emotionally pressurised to leave the Congress party, said Congress leader Jitu Patwari on Thursday after he was rescued by party leader DK Shivakumar from getting arrested due to the scuffle that had broken out at Embassy Boulevard here.

"We had received information that one of the MLAs, Manoj Chaudhary, staying at the Boulevard wanted his father to bring him back home," Patwari told reporters.

He said, "We had accompanied Manoj's father to the resort but the moment we entered the restaurant at the resort, some miscreants took away Manoj to some other unknown place," Patwari told reporters.

"Meanwhile, we (Lakhan Singh and Jitu Patwari) were manhandled and taken to the police station," he added.

Patwari said that the police had started the process of arresting them but Shivakumar came to their rescue and stopped their arrest.

He further said, "The police manhandled us even though we tried to talk to them in a very calm manner."

"If the MLAs giving resignation was their decision then why is the BJP not allowing them to contact their families," the MP said.

He further said that Jyotiraditya Scindia would soon become a minister but "why are the other ministers being made scapegoats."

Earlier in the day, a Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh had said that if action on the assaulters of its two leaders is not taken then the matter will be taken to the court.
