Mangaluru, Nov 9: Continuing crackdown on drug peddlers, users and growers, the city police have arrested three more persons in separate incidents.

Joshwa D’Souza (18), an engineering student and resident of Munoor village near Mangaluru was arrested by a team of the Economic and Narcotic Crime sleuths for cultivating cannabis.

Acting on a tip off the team headed by Inspector Mohammed Sharief raided D’Souza’s house and found two flower pots with cannabis plants. These cannabis plants were among the many found on the premises of the house in which D’Souza lived.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashant said that as per the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act cultivation of cannabis was an offence.

The police seized the two flower pots in which eight cannabis plants weighing 200 grams were grown. The police also seized eight grams of cannabis seeds reportedly procured by D’Souza.

Ms. Prashant said that the police were trying to find the place from where D’Souza sourced the seeds.

Kavoor police operation

The Kavoor police on Wednesday arrested Mohammed Haris (42) of Kottara Chowki for allegedly growing cannabis in the land of Vineet Jalan near Kodikal Cross. The Central Sub-Division’s Anti Rowdy Squad on Tuesday had lodged a complaint with Kavoor police to take action against the person who had grown cannabis, which was 12 feet high.

The Kavoor police said that Mohammed Haris had taken on lease the land from Mr. Jalan. The cannabis was grown near a cement shed on the land.

Peddler held

The Central Sub-Division’s Anti Rowdy Squad on Wednesday arrested Dhanush (22) of Hosabettu for allegedly selling cannabis to college students near the KSRTC bus stand.

The police have seized 250 grams of cannabis and a motorcycle. The police are searching for an alleged accomplice of Dhanush, who reportedly managed to escape.

The same squad arrested on Wednesday Anish Amin (24) and Digambar Biswas for being in illegal possession of eight packets of cannabis that weighed 96 grams.

They also seized the mobile phone and the motorcycle used by the accused. A case has been registered with the Urva police, a press release said.

Muslim organisations felicitate State BJP Chief Nalin Kumar

I want to know from them wat was the need for this. Has this helped the ordinary Mangalore Muslims in anyway. I would not have asked abt this if the program was conducted in your house. But here it is done in the name of Muslims. We need to stop being intellectually dishonest

We respect ur decision sir.

But there are a lot of questions about it on people's mind.

We need to be updated about ur next plan of action.

Are u planning to approach the court for gaining the permission from the police, bcoz otherwise I don't think we will get the permission

Secondly, a few days back I wanted to contact Muslim central committee office to confirm if the protest Wil be there. I googled for the no, but the no. did not exist. Does that mean the Muslim central committee does not have an office or telephone no????

This only shows how organised we are.

Requesting Muslim central committee to get their house in order. Get more professional. Also consult people to utilise various platform to responsibly collect funds from so many ordinary bearys who want to donate money, but don't know whom to send it to.

We need an action committee to handle such situations. It must consist a battery of lawyers to fight the cases filed by the police.

If our leaders are old, they need to groom new leaders into the committee.

Moreover, it is important to question these so called leaders about their fecilitation program conducted for making kateel wen he won the election. Wat was the purpose of such fecilitation. Becoz I don't think he gives a damn when our community suffered. I question, whether all this is done in our name only to gain your contact and flourish ur business???

Never ever dare to do so in the name of Muslims

Chennai, July 27: Multi-lingual actress Vijayalakshmi, who attempted suicide yesterday, alleging harassment and bullying by followers of Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman and Panankattu Padai’s Hari Nadar, is recuperating at a hospital in Chennai.

Vijayalakshmi is known for films like Friends and Boss Engira Baskaran. She recently made headlines for speaking against Seeman and the torture she was allegedly facing from the actor-turned-politician and his party.

In the video which was uploaded on Sunday evening, Vijayalakshmi said, “This is my last video and I have been in tremendous stress in the last four months because of Seeman and his partymen. I tried my level best to survive all these days because of my mother and sister, but I have been humiliated in the media by Harinadar recently.”

She added, “I would like to tell fans who are watching the video just because I was born in Karnataka, Seeman has tortured me a lot. As a woman, I have put up with it to my highest capabilities. I won’t be able handle the pressure anymore. I am from the Pillai community, the same community LTTE leader Prabhakaran is part of. Prabhakaran is the only reason Seeman is who he is today, but now he has been harassing me on social media continuously. You slut shamed me to make me feel the pain and it is up to me to decide on what to do after facing such insults from you. I request my fans not to let Seeman get away from this case. He should never get anticipatory bail. My death should be a big eye-opener to everyone. I don’t want to be a slave to anybody.”

Bengaluru, July 17: An infant with heart-related complications died after 10 private hospitals in the city allegedly refused to admit him over coronavirus fears.

In search of a hospital to treat his one-month-old child, the helpless father drove around for 200km in the city. The child breathes its last after suffering for 36 hours.
