Ban circumcision among Muslims before stopping Hindu superstitions: KSE to CM

Bantwal, Nov 11: K S Eshwarappa, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, on Saturday dared the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to ban circumcision, a common practice among Muslims, before trying to end superstitious practices of Hindu society.

This is one of the dozens of bizarre statements made by the hardcore Hindutva leader during his public address at BC Road town in Bantwal Assembly constituency of Dakshina Kannada district as part of Bharatiya Janata Party’s 75-day long Karnataka Parivartan Yatra.

In spite of severe opposition by Hindtuva elements, the Karnataka Cabinet had recently cleared the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill-2017, aimed at curbing the superstitious practices in the society.

Coming down heavily on the CM over Tipu Jayanti celebrations, Eshwarappa said that Tipu’s blood was flowing through the veins of Siddaramaiah. Though the intention behind this statement was to hurt Siddaramaiah, the latter reportedly felt proud when the BJP leader linked his blood to the legendary Mysuru ruler, who had laid down his life in the battlefield fighting British forces.

Eshwarappa also criticized the Karnataka government for delaying the release of the much-awaited caste census report. It could be recalled here that BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had earlier warned Siddaramaiah of state-wide protests if the census data was formally made public.

Eshwarappa also reportedly hurt the sentiments of some devote Hindus in the audience by saying that even the almighty God cannot stop B S Yeddyurappa from becoming the chief minister of Karnataka once again.

Oh God bestow wisdom to these people who became as leaders.

If a leader can be of this  lowest level of stupidity, what can be the mind level of  his common followers.

Circumcession is widely practiced in the western world than Muslims because of its scientific and health reasons.

Bengaluru, Jul 13: In an attempt to avoid the ugly scene of migrant workers walking to their native places due to the current week-long lockdown imposed in the state, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is running 1,600 additional buses on Monday and Tuesday to help them return safely.

The KSRTC has already run 249 additional buses from the State capital and has so far ferried 6,641 passengers and 231 buses have been booked.

The KSRTC appealed to the public not to panic as additional buses have been deployed. "After ensuring social distance and conducting thermal screening, passengers will be allowed to travel. It has already been planned to operate additional buses," the corporation stated in a press release here.

Kasaragod, Jul 26: First funeral, now wedding. Forty-three persons who attended a wedding at Pilankatta in Chengala panchayat in Kasaragod on July 17 have tested positive for Covid-19, said district medical officer (DMO) A V Ramdas.

They include the bride and the groom. Collector D Sajith Babu has asked all those who attended the wedding to go into home quarantine for 14 days. Those with Covid symptoms should get in touch with the nearest primary health centre, he said.

The DMO said samples of 128 persons linked to the wedding were tested, of which 43 turned out positive. Earlier, 44 persons who attended a funeral in Cherkala in the first week of July had tested positive. The funeral was declared a cluster and the government had to test 522 persons linked to the funeral.

The collector said those taking part in funeral or weddings without following the Covid protocol would be booked under the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Act. If convicted, they would face up to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of `10,000. Kasaragod police said they will register a case in connection with the wedding.

Pilankatta ward member Abdulla Kunhi K B said it was not a big fat wedding. The ceremony held at the bride’s house at Pilankatta was attended by less than 100 people, he said.“Theirs is a big family with four houses in one compound.

As many as 30 members are staying in these houses,” said Kunhi. Nine of the 30 have tested positive.Of the 15 guests, who came from the bride’s mother’s house, 12 contracted the infection. “The rest of the infected persons were among the groom’s guests,” said Kunhi, who did not attend the wedding. The groom and the bride’s father returned from Dubai three months ago.
