Mangaluru: Notorious ‘Target Gang’ leader, associate arrested in murder case

Mangaluru, Nov 23: The police have arrested two members of the notorious Target Gang for their alleged involvement in a murder in Ullal on September 2.

The police gave the names of arrested persons as Illiyas, one of the leaders of the Target Gang and his alleged associate Sumro Imran. While Illiyas was arrested from a flat in Jeppu, Imran was arrested from a lodge near Dadar Railway Station in Mumbai.

The police said that Illiyas, a prime member of the gang whose modus operandi was to take photographs of its victims in compromising position with women and then use such photographs for extortion, was first arrested for his alleged involvement in the extortion of two medical students.

Soon thereafter, he was booked under the Goonda Act (The Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act, 1985) in 2014. Following his release, Illiyas, in association with Imran, was involved in the murder of Dawood in Ullal on September 2. They both went absconding.

The police said that Illiyas was an accused in 25 criminal cases, including dacoity and attempt to murder in Mangaluru Bajpe police, Udupi’s Padubidri police and Uttara Kannada’s Yellapur police limits. Non-bailable warrants (NBWs) had been issued against him by courts for non-appearance in four cases. Imran is an accused in nine criminal cases and is facing NBWs for non-appearance in three cases, the police said.

This is what they giving  benifit and respect  to their parents  Hard Efforts. In fact our Manglore society not require such criminals . Dept must take strict action on each and every criminal group and with their backing

I believe that all criminals should be given fair trials, regardless of religion @ Ganesh we shouldn’t support fake encounter of even RSS, bajarangdal goons or Muslim Christian rowdy’s scums… or else lawlessness will prevail and people with power will start killing without being questioned…

Udupi, May 12: The Coastal Bus Owner’s Association members have approached Deputy Commissioner to permit them to run bus service in the District.

Nearly 80 buses coming under the Coastal Bus Association and they are prepared to run the buses as per the guidelines set by the government. They have also requested RTO officials for permission to operate and are awaiting approval. If the bus service starts operating, many workers like drivers, conductors, cleaners, mechanics will get employment.

Coastal Bus Owners Association President Raghavendra Bhat said that the bus owners must provide services to the public as per regulations set by Deputy Commissioner.

Mangaluru, Feb 29: The state general assembly (SGA) of Karnataka unit of the Popular Front of India was held from February 27 to 29, 2020 at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district wherein new functionaries were elected for the next two years.

Yasir Hasan was elected president of the state unit of the organisation while Nasir Pasha was elected general secretary. Ayub K Agnady, Mohammed Sharief and Shahid Nasir were elected vice president, secretary and treasurer respectively.

The state executive committee members are: Abdul Khader, Abdul Majeed, Sharief Kodaje and Mohammed Tafseer.

The SAG commenced with the hoisting of flag by outgoing president Muhammad Saqib on February 27. The three day meeting analyzed the growth and activities of the PFI for the past two years. It was observed that the organization has received positive acceptance among the society.

Bengaluru, Mar 31: With many departmental stores, shops and establishments insisting on people to wear masks, Karnataka government on Tuesday clarified that as a rule every one need not wear a mask.

The Commissionerate of Health and Family Welfare Services in an advisory said a person is suppose to wear mask only when he or she has symptoms of cold or cough or fever or any other respiratory problem.

It said a person who is caring for COVID-19 suspect or confirmed patient should wear mask. Also, a health worker who is attending to a patient with respiratory symptoms should wear a mask.

The advisory also noted that those treating or handling COVID-19 suspects or patients need to wear N95 mask, while others can wear triple layer surgical mask.

The advisory from the Commissionerate has come amid shops and establishments, also police on road insisting people to wear masks when they venture out.
