BJP MP Pratap Simha among 100 detained for violating prohibitory orders

Mysuru, Dec 3: Pratap Simha, the Karnataka chief of BJP Yuva Morcha, who was asked by the party supremo Amit Shah to hold more and more anti-government protests in the state, on Saturday courted arrested along with around 100 saffron activists at Hunsur in Mysuru district for violating prohibitory orders.

The Mysuru district police has permitted the organisers of the Hanuma Jayanthi in Hunsur to take out its procession on a specified route, while imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in the rest of the town.

Police said the gathering of Mr Simha, who is also the MP of Mysuru-Kodagu constituency, and his followers had violated the prohibitory orders, posing a threat to law and order in the communally sensitive town.

Heavy police security had been deployed in Hunsur since Saturday for the Meelad and Hanuma Jayanthi celebrations.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in the town with supporters of Mr. Simha staging a protest demanding his release.

Mangaluru, Apr 25: The coastal district of Dakshina Kannada today reported another covid-19 case. With this the total number of coronavirus positive case in the district rose to 18 including two deaths. 

The health and family welfare department in its bulletin today announced that a 33-year-old woman from Bantwal tested positive for coronavirus. She is undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital which is now converted into covid-19 hospital. 

She is the daughter of 67-year-old woman from Bantwal who was tested positive for the deadly disease last week. Both are the neighbours of the two women from Bantwal who died of covid-19 recently.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: Karnataka Health Department is planning to set up a separate hospital for COVID-19 so that the affected can be kept in quarantine at one place.

Presently, it is in the process of setting up separate isolation wards for COVID-19 cases at eight Bengaluru hospitals.

Minister for Medical Education K Sudhakar said on Friday that he has already discussed the idea of a separate facility for COVID-19 cases, so that those isolated, can be kept at a single location to contain the spread of the virus.

Mangaluru, Mar 23: In its efforts to contain the outbreak of COVID-19, the district administration has ordered that all shops and establishments selling essential commodities to remain open only between 0600 hrs and 1200 hrs from Tuesday till March 31.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release here, announced that autorickshaws and taxis should not ferry passengers and should be utilised only during emergencies and for transportation of essential commodities among others.

Ms Sindhu has also ordered shutting down industries. Only those industries involved in the production of essential commodities, medicines, medical instruments, medicine, fuel, farm produce among others had been exempted, Please log in to get detailed story.
